It will be a battle of the Panthers in the 2019 St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Women's Tennis Championship match when Greenville University meets Principia College. Greenville, the #1 seed in the tournament, advances to their first championship match since 2014 while Principia is chasing their 21st tournament title.
Due to weather the first day of the tournament was split between two sites; Principia College in Elsah, Illinois and Kings Point in Belleville, Ill. Webster, the #3 seed in the tournament, started the morning off with a 5-0 win over Fontbonne, the #6 seed at Kings Point while #5 seeded Westminster College knocked off #4 seed Blackburn College 5-0 on the indoor courts at Principia College.
Greenville then squared off against Westminster in Elsah, winning 5-2 to advance to the championship match. Meanwhile Principia, down 4-2 at one point during their match against Webster, won the final three singles matches to come from behind and clinch a championship berth.
The 2019 SLIAC Women's Tennis Championship match between Greenville and Principia at 11 a.m. on Saturday, April 20. The 3rd place match featuring Webster and Westminster will also begin at 11 a.m. while the 5th place match between Blackburn and Fontbonne will start at 9:30 a.m. All matches will take place at Dwight Davis Tennis Center in Forest Park in St. Louis, Mo.
