"I am extremely honored and excited to take this position and become part of the Blackburn College community. I have been fortunate to have some incredible mentors throughout my coaching career that helped me gain the experience and knowledge to get to this point."

"I am most excited to be able to teach and help these student-athletes to be successful both on and off the field," said Akhavein.

"I'd like to thank John Malin and the entire search committee for this amazing opportunity and for entrusting me to lead the women's soccer program. I look forward to being on campus with the student-athletes, as well as investing in the players and tapping into what will make this program consistently competitive in the St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference," added Akhavein.

Blackburn College Director of Athletics, John Malin announced the hiring of Akhavein.

"We are pleased to have Sohaila take over our Women's Soccer Program.  She brings a wealth of knowledge and experience that will help build the program.  She has a great deal of energy and excitement and we look forward to having her take the leadership role for the Women's Soccer Program," said Malin.
