Greenville College freshman Caitie Opp will always remember her first collegiate start after tossing a no-hitter in her team's 6-1 win over Wisconsin-Platteville.
Opp, from Tamaroa, Ill., nearly had a perfect game with the only runner reaching on an error in the sixth inning. Opp went seven innings in the win, allowing one unearned run, while striking out four. She retired the first 16 batters of the game, with the game's only runner reaching on an error with one out in the top of the sixth inning.
Opp didn't simply keep her opponents off balance but went after them at the end of innings, recording a strike out as the final out of an inning on three occassions. She finished her no-hitter in style striking out two batters in the final inning including a strike out to end the game.
