NFCA Announces All-Academic Honors

The National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) announced their 2014-15 All-Academic Teams and Award winners. Among those receiving honors were five St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SLIAC) programs and 47 SLIAC student-athletes.

Five SLIAC softball programs were among the 97 teams honored by the NFCA for their success in the classroom. To receive the honor a team must hold a team cumulative grade-point average of 3.0 or above. Iowa Wesleyan University placed 12th on the list with a team grade-point average of 3.507. Joining them are Westminster College with a 3.49 grade-point average, Webster University with a 3.483 grade-point average, Fontbonne University with a 3.450 mark, and Principia College with a 3.316 grade-point average. In addition the NFCA honored individual student-athletes who maintained a grade-point average of 3.5 or above. A total of 47 student-athletes from the SLIAC earned that honor and include members from six teams. From Fontbonne University: Morgan Baer, Michelle Boyer, Shannon Fitzpatrick, Cassandra Glixman, Danielle Glixman, Isabel Hotop, Caitlin Nappier, and Emily Smith. From Greenville College: Shannon Elbe and Rebecca Oldham. From Iowa Wesleyan University: Andrea Bury, Haleigh Cowan, Samantha McIlwain, Caitlin O'Neill, Skyler Rogers, Samantha Shepard, Kassie Vazquez, and Alli Willis. From Principia College: Samantha Bronkar, Victoria Cheatham, Emma Herman, Anna Christian McMullen, Ashley Shoemake, Katherin Swarts, and Kelsey Whitney. From Spalding University: Alyssa McAfee, Brooke Lamon, Caroline Hale, Miranda Ladanyi, Robyn Schoen, and Shelby Kilgore. From Webster University: Kaylyn DeCock, Alison Staberow, Emily Kolisch, Alexis Spriggs, Chloe Costa, Tessa Johanning, Chelsea Thomley, and Kate Wylie. From Westminster: Anne Baker, Abby Bartley, Ashley Flood, Alyson Hahn, Brittany Hodge, Kelsi Hill, Madison McKindley, Kim Morrison and Shannon Perrigo. The NFCA Academic Awards program honors both collegiate and high school teams and individual student-athletes for their submitted team GPA's for the academic year.
