Westminster's Belman Breaks Career and Season Records

Westminster's Raul Belman broke the program's career and season goalkeeper wins record in Thursday's 6-0 shutout win over Principia College.

Belman broke the career record after posting his 35th win in goal throughout his three years with the Westminster men's soccer program. He also posted his 13th win this season, breaking the previously held record of 12 wins in a season.

The Westminster Blue Jays have recorded their fourth consecutive shutout win, bringing their season shutout total to nine. They are currently 13-2 on the season and remain undefeated in conference play with a 7-0 mark.

The team jumped out to a quick 1-0 lead when junior Tripp Sheehan netted a goal just 2:58 in, and junior Eli Sherman put the Blue Jays up 2-0 in the 6th minute with the assist from sophomore Daniel Barone.

The Blue Jays scored again in the 17th minute with a goal from sophomore Blake Hausman off sophomore Austin Chandler's assist. They were unable to score again in the first half, sending the game into halftime with a 3-0 lead.

Junior Drew Cook scored just seven minutes into the second half with an assist from Sheehan. The roles reversed less than two minutes later as Sheehan scored his second goal of the game with Cook's assist.

Senior Kyle Collins scored the sixth and final goal of the game in the 83rd minute with an assist from junior Josh Jaycox.

The Blue Jays outshot Principia 38-5. The team posted 21 shots-on-goal with six goals.

Belman (13-2) spent 60 minutes in goal and recorded two saves as he received the win in goal. Freshman Tanner Moesch closed out the game in goal.

The Blue Jays return home for the remaining two games of the 2015 regular season. They face off with Greenville College, the other undefeated team in the SLIAC, on Tuesday, October 27, at 5:00 pm at Fulton High School. They close out the season with a game versus Spalding on Saturday, October 31, at 2:00 pm.
