Feehan Named To All-Region Team

Eureka College sophomore guard Shea Feehan (Peoria, Ill./Notre Dame H.S.) added to his growing list of honors on Monday, earning a spot on the All-Central Region Third Team, according to an announcement from Feehan is the first Eureka men's basketball player to receive All-Region honors since 2014.

The only St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference player to earn the honor in 2017, Feehan joins Craig Negangard (2004 All-Midwest Region Third Team), Michael Zasada (2010 All-Midwest Region Second Team) and Mark Lessen (2014 All-Midwest Region Second Team) as the only Red Devils to earn All-Region honors from

Feehan, an All-SLIAC First Team pick, rewrote a portion of the EC record book this season. He set new single-season Division-III era school records with a 26.7 scoring average, 173 free throws made and a .930 free throw percentage. His 173 free throws and .930 percentage ranked fourth among NCAA Division III players as of the end of the regular season.

Additionally, Feehan finished the campaign with 641 points, second-most in a season in program history and one of only four 600-point seasons in 98 years of Eureka men's basketball. He scored 30 points or more nine times, including a 40-point outburst in the Red Devils' Nov. 27 win over Monmouth.

Feehan will enter his junior campaign next November with 928 career points, 72 shy of becoming Eureka's first 1,000-point scorer since Mark Lessen in 2013-14. He also made 86 3-pointers in 2016-17, sixth-most in a season by a Red Devil since the 3-point line was introduced in 1986.

Ripon's Ty Sabin was named Central Region Player of the Year. Brad Perry of Carthage was the Rookie of the Year and Grey Giovanine of Augustana was picked Coach of the Year. Fifteen different players representing the SLIAC, College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin, Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference, Midwest Conference, Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference and University Athletic Association were chosen for All-Region honors.

The 2016-17 season is the 16th season has named All-Region teams. Players were nominated for these awards by the Sports Information Directors at the various schools. There were 723 players nominated nationwide. The ballot was then made available to SIDs, who voted for a predetermined number of players in their region.
