SLIAC MEN'S CROSS COUNTRY RUNNER OF THE WEEK - SEPT. 4
John Mangold, Greenville University

John Mangold, a senior from Metamora, Ill., is the first SLIAC Men's Cross Country Runner of the Week for 2018. Mangold took first place this past weekend, finishing with a time of 16:11 in the 5k race; besting 67 other runners.

   

SLIAC WOMEN'S CROSS COUNTRY RUNNER OF THE WEEK - SEPT. 4
Sierra Howardson, Iowa Wesleyan University

Sierra Howardson had an impressive collegiate debut for the newly launched Tigers cross country program, claiming a first-place finish and earning SLIAC Women's Cross Country Runner of the Week honors. Howardson, a freshman from Danville, Iowa, raced to a time of 16:56, besting 29 other runners in the field and helping the Tigers to a third-place finish at the meet. 

   

SLIAC MEN'S SOCCER OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK - SEPT. 4
Mani Bakari, Spalding University

Bakari, a freshman from Louisville, Ky., sparked the Golden Eagles to a pair of wins last weekend. He notched two assists, including setting up the game-winner, in a 3-2 overtime victory against Georgetown (Ky.). Bakari followed with a goal and an assist in his team's 2-1 win over Gallaudet the next day. On the week Bakari totaled five points, finishing with one goal and three assists.

   

SLIAC MEN'S SOCCER DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK - SEPT. 4
Eric Volk, Fontbonne University

Eric Volk, a junior from Florissant, Mo., is the SLIAC Men's Soccer Defensive Player of the Week. Volk played all 180-minutes of his team's two games, walking away with one win in net. He stopped 15 shots in the two games including a high of eight in a win over Aurora. On the week he finished with a .789 save percentage.

   

SLIAC WOMEN'S SOCCER OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK - SEPT. 4
Nicole Bascio, Webster University

Bascio, a senior from Wentzville, Mo., started her season with a bang, scoring a career high two goals in the Gorloks 3-0 win over Concordia-Chicago. Bascio needed just three shots to do her damage which included the game-winner. She followed that with an assist in her team's 3-1 win over Dominican (Ill.). On the week Bascio finished with five total points with two goals and one assist.

   

SLIAC WOMEN'S SOCCER DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK - SEPT. 4
Lily Brauer, Webster University

Lily Brauer picks up the SLIAC Women's Soccer Defensive Player of the Week award after helping the Gorloks start the year 2-0. With Brauer along the back line the Gorloks allowed just one goal in the season's first two games, picking up a shutout against Concordia-Chicago.

   

SLIAC VOLLEYBALL OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK - SEPT. 4
Samantha Kruse, Webster University

Samantha Kruse, a sophomore from Waterloo, Ill., led the Gorloks to a 2-0 start in their season-opening matches last weekend. Kruse tallied 31 total kills in the two wins, hitting .284, and averaging 3.44 kills per set. She had a high of 16 kills against Benedictine, adding two aces. Kruse also recorded 32 digs in the two matches. On the week she finished with 35.5 points and three service aces.

   

SLIAC VOLLEYBALL DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK - SEPT. 4
Kristen Farrah, Webster University

Farrah, a sophomore from St. Charles, Mo., was busy on the defensive side of the court last weekend, recording 69 digs for the Gorloks in their two wins. Farrah started the night with 24 digs against Lincoln College before putting up 45 digs against Benedictine. That mark was the second most in program history. On the weekend she averaged 7.67 digs per set and added three service aces and 14 assists.

  • Matt Amick, Webster University (Soccer) Made three combined saves in two shutout performances for the Gorloks.
  • Mary Beers, Fontbonne University (Soccer) Had nine saves in her season opener against Williamette.
  • Ali Bumblis, Spalding University (Soccer) Stood out both offensively, with one goal and one assist, and defensively, leading a defense that allowed just five shots, in a 4-1 win against Brescia.
  • Jacob Dixon, Fontbonne University (Cross Country) Led the Griffins with a time of 24:11 at the Principia Opener.
  • Lexi Dooley, Eureka College (Volleyball) Totaled eight blocks in four matches last weekend including a four-block performance against Alma. 
  • Kamryn Flesner, MacMurray College (Volleyball) Had two double-digit kill outings including a 17 kills match in her collegiate debut against Knox.
  • Juan Jose Herranz, Greenville University (Soccer) Scored both goals of his team's 2-1 win against Marantha Baptist.
  • Kelsie Huffman, Spalding University (Soccer) Notched two goals in a 4-1 win over Brescia.
  • Allie Kennebeck, Westminster College (Volleyball) Totaled 32 kills in two matches last week to go along with 18 digs.
  • Lida Landre, Iowa Wesleyan University (Volleyball) Averaged 3.67 kills per set with a 16 kill outing against Knox.
  • Kalleigh Linthicum, Webster University (Cross Country) Career-best time of 15:50 to place 11th overall at the WIU Early Invitational. 
  • Abe Ott, Principia College (Cross Country) Placed 5th with a time of 21:24 at the Principia Open.
  • Bridget Ringwald, Westminster College (Volleyball) Had 51 total digs in two outings including a high of 32 against Benedictine.
  • Heather Robinson, Eureka College (Volleyball) Averaged 2.3 kills per set while adding 23 assists on the weekend, moving her into 10th place on the programs career leader list.
  • Emmy Rodriguez, Iowa Wesleyan University (Soccer) Recorded a hat trick against Alverno.
  • Emme Schaefer, Principia College (Cross Country) Finished 4th at the Principia Open with a time of 17:00 flat.
  • Alex Yates, Eureka College (Soccer) Came off the bench to make seven second-half saves as the Red Devils rallied for a 2-1 win over Lakeland.
