AROUND THE SLIAC

Blackburn College

Blackburn has named Morgan Hauser their new volleyball head coach. Hauser is a familiar face in the SLIAC, having played at MacMurray College and serving on the coaching staff last season. For more information on the hiring click HERE

Eureka College

The Red Devils men's basketball team notched their first back-to-back wins in nearly a month when they defeated Fontbonne and Greenville last week. Eureka knocked off Greenville 161-153 behind 51 points from Dakota Bennington.

Fontbonne University

The Fontbonne men's basketball team will be looking to close out their regular season on a high. The Griffins have two games remaining and need two wins to finish the season with a .500 record in conference play. Fontbonne is on the road at Iowa Wesleyan on Wednesday and home against Spalding on Saturday.

Greenville University

Greenville is still in a battle for the hosting rights for the SLIAC Men's Basketball Tournament. The Panthers are tied for first in the standings with a 13-3 record and will face Westminster and Webster in their final two regular season games this week.

Iowa Wesleyan University

Jarryd Fernandes tied a school record with 51 points in his team's 128-125 loss to Greenville last weekend. Fernandes scored his 51 points while making 21 field goals, setting a new single-game mark for the Tigers, and added 13 rebounds and six assists.

MacMurray College

MacMurray freshman Chassidy Hays will cap off her impressive freshman season this week with games against Eureka and Westminster. Hays is coming off a 22 point, 14 rebound game and is currently averaging 16.4 points per game while leading the league in rebounds (13.2 per game) and field goal percentage (.597).

Spalding University

Spalding needs just one win in their final two games of the regular season to secure a spot in the SLIAC Men's Basketball Tournament. The Golden Eagles are currently 10-6 in the SLIAC and have road games against Blackburn and Fontbonne to close out the regular season.

Webster University

Webster clinched a spot in the 2019 SLIAC Women's Basketball Tournament last weekend and are currently fourth in the standings. The Gorloks are the defending SLIAC Tournament champions.

Westminster College

Earlier this week Blue Jay senior guard Kendahl Adams picked up her second SLIAC Women's Basketball Player of the Week award this season. Adams averaged 23.5 points, 14 rebounds, and 6 assists in two wins for Westminster.
