Westminster Chosen as SLIAC Preseason Favorites (Jan. 23, 2019)
SLIAC coaches have picked the two-time defending regular season champions, Westminster College, as the preseason favorites for the 2019 softball season. Greenville University, Spalding University, and Fontbonne University round out the predicted playoff field for this spring.....MORE

Spalding, Webster Favorites In SLIAC Baseball Poll (January 24, 2019)
Spalding University and Webster University are the favorites for the 2019 SLIAC baseball season according to the league's coaches. Spalding received eight of ten first-place votes as the favorites in the East Division while Webster captured nine first-place votes as favorites in the West Division.....MORE

SLIAC Game of the Week: Spalding at Webster (Jan. 28, 2019)
This week's SLIAC Game of the Week is between two teams in the middle of the hunt for the postseason; Webster University and Spalding University. The two teams are currently among the top four teams in the standings, which would give them a spot in the conference tournament. Webster is currently tied for 2nd place with a 9-2 SLIAC record while Spalding is a half game back with an 8-2 conference mark.....MORE

AROUND THE SLIAC

Blackburn College

The Blackburn men's and women's basketball doubleheader against Eureka College, originally scheduled for Wednesday, January 30 has now been pushed back one day to Thursday, January 31 due to inclement weather.

Eureka College

The Red Devils host a pair of conference games this week with a chance to move their conference record above .500. The Red Devils will host Blackburn on Thursday night and Webster on Saturday afternoon. Eureka is currently 5-6 in the SLIAC and 6-11 overall. 

Fontbonne University

The Fontbonne men's basketball team has won three straight, and four of their last six, to push their record to 8-11 overall and 6-6 in the SLIAC. They are two games back in the final spot for the playoffs and will face Westminster and Greenville this week.

Greenville University

Greenville senior forward Wesley Woodard netted her 1,000th career point in the team's win over Principia on Monday night. Woodard finished with 13 points in the game. 

Iowa Wesleyan University

On Saturday afternoon Darby Massner etched her name into the Tigers record book. Massner knocked down three triples to break the program career record for three-point field goals made. Massner finished the game with 13 points and now has 208 career three-point field goals, surpassing the previous mark held by Ali (DeVries) Boyd.

MacMurray College

The MacMurray baseball team was picked 3rd in the East Division of the 2019 SLIAC Baseball Preseason poll. The Highlanders are coached by John Grana and return 18 players and six starters. They open their season at Sewanee on February 16. 

Principia College

The Principia women's basketball team enters the final month of the season with six games remaining on their schedule. This marks the return season for the program after it was disbanded. Nikki Matters leads the team at 18.4 points per game while Sophia Hathaway is averaging 14.4 points per game.

Spalding University

Spalding has won six straight games to tighten their grip on a playoff berth this season in women's basketball. The Golden Eagles are 13-6 overall and 8-2 in the SLIAC, holding a three-game lead over the final playoff spot. They face Webster and Westminster this week. 

Webster University

Westminster College

The Blue Jays are coming off a 79-74 win over Eureka last Saturday to improve to 9-10 overall and 8-4 in the SLIAC. They face Fontbonne and Spalding this week as they continue to push for a playoff spot. They are currently tied for 3rd in the men's basketball standings.
