SLIAC Ready For Annual Coaches vs. Cancer Fundraiser
This week kicks off the annual Coaches vs. Cancer initiative for the St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference. Over the next couple of weeks schools from around the conference will hold various fundraising and awareness events prior to and during home basketball games. This marks the fourth consecutive year that the SLIAC has participated in a conference-wide initiative to raise money for assisting cancer patients.....MORE

Griffith Named Gorlok Softball Coach (January 17, 2019)
Webster University Director of Athletics Scott Kilgallon today announced the hiring of Katie Griffith as the interim head softball coach at Webster University for the 2019 season. Griffith becomes the fifth head coach in the 22-year history of the program......MORE

AROUND THE SLIAC

Blackburn College

The Blackburn men's basketball team will take on the conference's marquee matchup this week, facing Westminster College in the SLIAC Game of the Week. The Beavers are currently 8-9 overall and 5-5 in the SLIAC. They are sitting in 5th place in the standings and chasing down a spot into the tournament.

Eureka College

The Eureka women's basketball team is on a roll having won three straight games to improve their record to 8-8 overall. The Red Devils are 3-5 in the SLIAC and will host Spalding on Wednesday night before hitting the road against Westminster on Saturday. 

Fontbonne University

The Griffins women's basketball team defeated Iowa Wesleyan in their postponed game. Fontbonne was led by Paige Black with 20 points and are now 7-10 overall and 4-5 in the SLIAC. They have another home game on Wednesday when they face MacMurray.

Greenville University

The Panthers women's basketball team has extended their winning streak to five games and remain the only undefeated team in conference play at 8-0. Greenville will face Blackburn in a road contest on Saturday before returning home for a three-game homestand beginning next Monday.

Iowa Wesleyan University

After five years as the head coach of the Tigers volleyball team BJ Wagy is stepping away. Wagy served many roles during her team at Iowa Wesleyan including head coach, Assistant Athletic Director, and Compliance Officer. She was also instrumental in the school's partnership with the Southeast Iowa Special Olympics as the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee Advisor.

MacMurray College

The MacMurray women's basketball team picked up their first conference win of the season last Saturday, defeating Blackburn 59-58. Shelby Fink had a game-high 20 points, going 7-of-11 from the field while grabbing nine rebounds.

Principia College

The Principia men's basketball team has a hit a bit of a rut, losing four of their last five games. The Panthers are 3-14 overall this season and return to action on Saturday with a home game against Fontbonne.

Spalding University

The Spalding men's basketball team has found their footing in the new year. Spalding had lost seven of nine games before rolling off four straight wins. They are now 7-3 in conference play and tied for 3rd place in the SLIAC standings. The Golden Eagles will head out on a three-game road trip starting with Wednesday's game against Eureka.

Webster University

Webster sophomore Rodson Etienne was named the SLIAC Men's Basketball Player of the Week this week after helping the Gorloks pick up two big conference wins, averaging 30.5 points, 10.0 rebounds, and 5.0 assists in the two games. He became the first Gorlok player to tally back-to-back 30 point games in 18 years.

Westminster College

Kallee Dowler tied a school record with eight three-point field goals in a single game. She finished the game with a career-high 30 points and would go on to be named the SLIAC Women's Basketball Player of the Week. Dowler averaged 23.5 points and 1.5 steals per game while shooting 59-percent from the field.
