SLIAC/DIAMOND SPORTS BASEBALL HITTER OF THE WEEK - APRIL 16

Blake Strebler, Westminster College

Blake Strebler powered his way into the record books and the SLIAC/Diamond Sports Baseball Hitter of the Week award. Strebler, a senior, tied an NCAA Division III record with four home runs in a single game; doing so against Spalding. He went 4-for-5 in the record-tying game, with 4 home runs and 7seven runs batted in. On the week Strebler hit .471 with 4 home runs and 8 RBI while scoring 7 runs. He had multiple hits in the three of his four games and finished the week with a 1.235 slugging percentage.

     
   

SLIAC/DIAMOND SPORTS BASEBALL PITCHER OF THE WEEK - APRIL 16

Isaiah Taylor, Eureka College

Taylor, a senior from Princeton, Ill., was on top his game last week in a win over Iowa Wesleyan. Taylor struck out 17 batters in a nine-inning victory over the conference foe, allowing just four hits and one earned run. His 17 strikeouts were the second-most in NCAA Division III this year. Three times during the game Taylor struck out three consecutive batters including striking out the side in the final frame. 

     
 

SLIAC SOFTBALL HITTER OF THE WEEK - APRIL 16

Kaylin Rucker, Spalding University

Rucker led an explosive Golden Eagles attack last week as Spalding reached double figures in scoring in all four games on the week; all wins. Rucker, a senior from Louisville, Ky., hit .600 with 2 home runs and 12 runs batted in. She picked up multiple hits in all four games including three hits in the game one win over Principia. Rucker also had multiple RBI in all four contests with a high of four in a game one win over Berea. She finished 9-of-15 at the plate with eight runs scored and a 1.333 slugging percentage for the week.

     
 

SLIAC SOFTBALL PITCHER OF THE WEEK - APRIL 16

Katie Price, Westminster College

Price, a sophomore, had a week to remember; throwing a no-hitter and a perfect game in three outings in the circle. Price recorded her no-hitter in a 2-0 win over Webster, working seven innings and allowing no hits while striking out three. She added another win in the second game of a doubleheader against Webster, working 5 1/3 innings and allowing no runs and five hits. Price completed a perfect game three days later in game one of a doubleheader against Blackburn. In that outing, she threw five innings and allowed no base runners while striking out eight. On the week she worked 17 1.3 innings, allowing five hits and no runs while striking out 12. 

     
 

SLIAC MEN'S FIELD ATHLETE OF THE WEEK - APRIL 16

Austin Wagner, Webster University

Wagner, a freshman from Cortez, Colo., notched six team points for Webster while competing at the Greenville Select Meet last weekend. Wagner had a 5th place finish in the triple jump with a distance of 43'5". He also had a season-best jump of 21'0.5" in the long jump, putting him 6th among SLIAC competitors this spring.

     
 

SLIAC MEN'S TRACK ATHLETE OF THE WEEK - APRIL 16

Corey Carter, Principia College

Corey Carter continues to dominate the short race scene with two more first-place finishes over the weekend. Carter, a freshman from Cincinnati, Ohio, took first in both the 100-meter dash and 200-meter dash at the Greenville Select Meet. His time of 21.51 seconds in the 200 meter broke a school record that had stood for 60 years. The time was also the 5th fastest in NCAA Division III this season. He also put up the best time in the 100 meter dash in the conference this year, finishing in 10.76 seconds; good for 15th in the nation.

     
 

SLIAC WOMEN'S FIELD ATHLETE OF THE WEEK - APRIL 16

Emily Bay, Fontbonne University

Bay, a sophomore from Union, Mo., competed in five events last weekend and recorded three personal bests. She took 3rd place in the Javelin with a distance of 100'0", the third best distance this spring in the conference. She also had personal bests in the hammer throw and discus while competing in the shot put, 4x100 relay, 4x400 relay races.

     
 

SLIAC WOMEN'S TRACK ATHLETE OF THE WEEK - APRIL 16

Donalda Desir, Webster University

Desir, a senior from Naples, Fla., tallied 14 team points for the Gorloks last weekend while competing in the Greenville Select Meet. Desir, competing in three events, had a 2nd place finish in the 400-meter dash. She finished with a time of 59.92 seconds, the best time among SLIAC runners this season. She also picked up a 5th place finish in the 200-meter dash and a 6th place finish in the 4x100 meter relay. 

     
 

SLIAC MEN'S TENNIS PLAYER OF THE WEEK - APRIL 16

Jules Kitchingman, Principia College

Kitchingman, a junior from Mount Waverley, Australia, recorded a perfect week on the courts going 6-0. He was 3-0 at #2 singles and teamed with his partner Nat Kenworthy at #2 doubles for three more wins. Kitchingman cruised to singles victories over conference foes Greenville, Fontbonne, and Webster; finishing with a 36-5 set score in the three matches. His victories helped Principia capture the SLIAC regular season title, going 4-0 in conference play.

     
 

SLIAC WOMEN'S TENNIS PLAYER OF THE WEEK - APRIL 16

Clara Baldwin, Westminster College

Baldwin picked up a pair of conference wins during her three-win week. Playing at #1 singles she defeated Fontbonne 6-1, 6-2 and then teamed with Natalie Tiffany for an 8-2 win at #1 doubles. Baldwin then followed with another singles win, this time against Stephens, winning 6-1, 6-0.

  • Carter Atkinson, Spalding University (Baseball) Allowed no hits while working 4 2/3 innings of relief in a come from behind win for the Golden Eagles. 
  • Tyler Durand, Blackburn College (Baseball) Had a hit in all five games last week, finishing with 4 home runs and 9 runs batted in.
  • Adam Fuchs, Westminster College (Tennis) WEnt 4-0 on the week with conference wins over Fontbonne and Webster at #1 singles.
  • Sean Green, Eureka College (Baseball) Hit .600 with six runs scored and five stolen bases while helping the Red Devils to four wins last week.
  • Katie Gosser, Fontbonne University (Track and Field) Competed in six events with a 3rd place finish in the 4x100 meter relay and high jump.
  • Emily Holloway, Westminster College (Softball) Was 6-of-11 at the plate last week for a .545 average in four wins.
  • Morgan Mansur, Webster University (Softball) Held a 1.17 earned-run average over two games while striking out 14 in 12 innings.
  • Gariel Pierce, Blackburn College (Tennis) Notched a pair of wins last week against Principia while playing #1 singles and #1 doubles.
  • Sara Rice, Webster University (Tennis) Had four wins including a pair of conference wins against Greenville.
  • Mariana Rogers, Fontbonne University (Tennis) Tallied three wins on the week including victories over Principia and Lindenwood-Belleville.
  • Ben Swords, Webster University (Baseball) Had eight hits, a .533 average, and 7 RBI in three games last week.
  • Taylor White, Webster University (Softball) Hit .462 last week including four hits in a doubleheader against Principia.
  • Klaiton Wolff, Greenville University (Baseball) Hit .529 with 7 RBI in four games last week.
  • Gabby Wood, Greenville University (Softball) Hit .563 on the week including a 4-for-4 game against Greenville.
