SLIAC Players of the Week - April 24

This week's SLIAC Players of the Week are Brett Charlton, from Eureka College; Ben Dinter, from Webster University; Kali George, from Eureka College; Jessie Kuykendall, from Westminster College; Kyle Olliges, from Spalding University; Raven Venegas, from Fontbonne University; Krysten Wallace, from Eureka College; Nate Wieland, from Greenville College; and Shane Witters-Hicks, from Principia College.


SLIAC/DIAMOND SPORTS HITTER OF THE WEEK - APRIL 24
BEN DINTER, WEBSTER

Ben Dinter, a junior outfielder for Webster University, is the SLIAC/Diamond Sports Baseball Hitter of the Week. Dinter had an explosive week at the plate, hitting .500 over four games with three home runs and nine runs batted in. He homered in three straight games, helping the Gorloks to four conference wins on the week. Dinter was 6-for-12 at the plate, finishing the week with a 1.333 slugging percentage and six runs scored. He tallied four multi-hit games on the week as well.

KYLE OLLIGES, SPALDING UNIVERSITY

The SLIAC/Diamond Sports Baseball Pitcher of the Week is Spalding University's Kyle Olliges. Olliges, a senior from Louisville, Ky., was dominant in his only start on the week, a 12-1 win over Blackburn. Olliges set a school record with 16 strikeouts in the seven-inning conference win. He allowed just two hits in the game, with the only run coming on a solo home run.

KRYSTEN WALLACE, EUREKA COLLEGE

Krysten Wallace, from Eureka College, is the SLIAC Softball Hitter of the Week after leading the Red Devils offense to four conference wins. Wallace hit .714 with three runs batted in and three stolen bases on the week. She also drew four walks and finished the week with a .833 on-base percentage. Wallace's best game was her 3-for-3 day that helped spark a Red Devil come from behind win over Fontbonne.

KALI GEORGE, EUREKA COLLEGE

The SLIAC Softball Pitcher of the Week is Kali George, from Eureka College. George, a junior from East Peoria, Ill., picked up two conference wins in the circle last week for the Red Devils including the program's first win over Fontbonne since 2008. George worked 12 scoreless innings, allowing just six hits while striking out four and walking none.

BRETT CHARLTON, EUREKA COLLEGE

Brett Charlton is the SLIAC Men's Field Player of the Week. Charlton, a sophomore at Eureka College, take first place at the Concordia Cougar Invitational in the long jump. Charlton, from Eureka, Ill., had a winning jump of 6.60 meters, the third-longest jump in the SLIAC this spring.

SHANE WITTERS-HICKS, PRINCIPIA COLLEGE

Shane Witters-Hicks is the SLIAC Track Player of the Week. Witters-Hicks, from Golden, Col., competed in the 3000-meter steeplechase, taking first-place at the Rose-Hulman Twilight event. Witters-Hicks finished with a time of 9:16.05, setting a new meet and stadium record and recording the 6th fastest time in NCAA Division III this season.

SLIAC WOMEN'S FIELD PLAYER OF THE WEEK - APRIL 24
RAVEN VENEGAS, FONTBONNE UNIVERSITY

The SLIAC Field Player of the Week is Raven Venegas, from Fontbonne University. Venegas competed in four events last weekend, taking first place in three of them. She set the school record in the hammer throw, 39.05 meters, taking first, and also finishing first in both the discus throw and shot put.

SLIAC WOMEN'S TRACK PLAYER OF THE WEEK - APRIL 24
JESSIE KUYKENDALL, WESTMINSTER COLLEGE

Jessie Kuykendall is the SLIAC Women's Track Player of the Week. The sophomore at Westminster College took first-place in the 3000-meter steeplechase, finishing in a time of 10:53.38. That time is nearly a full minute faster than anyone else in the SLIAC has recorded this spring.

SLIAC MEN'S TENNIS PLAYER OF THE WEEK - APRIL 24
NATE WIELAND, GREENVILLE COLLEGE

Nate Wieland is the SLIAC Men's Tennis Player of the Week. Wieland, a junior from Mascoutah, Ill., recorded a pair of wins last week against Westminster College. Wieland, playing at #1 singles for Greenville, topped his opponent 6-2, 2-6, 6-3 and followed with a 8-4 win in doubles.

  • Tanner Branneky, Westminster College (Baseball) Recorded eight hits over four games, all wins, with six runs scored.
  • Erica Burney, Westminster College (Softball) Burney was 6-for-9 at the plate last week, driving in three runs over four games.
  • Abby Burroughs, Webster University (Softball) Burroughs tallied four hits and three RBI in a doubleheader sweep of MacMurray.
  • Joey Clemente, Fontbonne University (Baseball) Clemente notched a shutout win over Iowa Wesleyan, allowing just two hits while striking out seven.
  • Josh Fleming, Webster University (Baseball) Fleming recorded a complete game shutout win over Eureka, going seven innings and allowing just three hits with 11 strikeouts.
  • Jesse Getz, Greenville College (Baseball) Getz tallied back to back three-hit games for the Panthers last week.
  • Alyson Hahn, Westminster College (Softball) Hahn notched two wins while throwing 10 innings and allowing no runs.
  • Kerrigan Horn, MacMurray College (Softball) Hit .533 with eight runs scored over six games last week, finishing with a .867 slugging percentage.
  • Meghan Illig, Webster University (Track and Field) Illig set a school record in the 400-meter hurdles with a time of 1:03.15.
  • Isaac Lineberry, Spalding University (Baseball) Recorded three hits with four runs scored and five runs batted in during a doubleheader sweep of Blackburn.
  • Meredith Sowers, Webster University (Track and Field) Set school record in both the 800-meter run and the pole vault.
  • Chelsea Thornley, Webster University (Softball) Thornley was impactful in two relief outings last week, coming out of the pen to record a pair of wins. She worked six innings, allowing no runs while striking out five.
