SLIAC Players of the Week - January 16

The SLIAC Men's and Women's Basketball Players of the Week are Kennedy Dura, from Eureka College, and Shane Smith, from Greenville College.

SLIAC MEN'S BASKETBALL PLAYER OF THE WEEK - JAN. 16
SHANE SMITH, GREENVILLE COLLEGE

Shane Smith is this week's SLIAC Men's Basketball Player of the Week after helping Greenville College win a key conference game against Eureka College. Smith, a senior from Los Angeles, Calif., scored a team high 34 points in his team's 145-142 overtime win, including netting 20 points after halftime. He finished the game 12-of-17 shooting from the floor, while knocking down a pair of three-pointers and going 8-of-10 from the free-throw line. Smith also grabbed seven rebounds in the game and added four assists and three steals.

SLIAC WOMEN'S BASKETBALL PLAYER OF THE WEEK - JAN. 16
KENNEDY DURA, EUREKA COLLEGE

Kennedy Dura, a freshman guard from Eureka College, is this week's SLIAC Women's Basketball Player of the Week. Dura, from Edwards, Ill., led the Red Devils to a 66-49 win over Greenville, Eureka's largest margin of victory over the Panthers since the 1992-93 season. Dura finished the contest with 16 points, going 7-of-11 from the field with a pair of three-pointers. Dura added four assists, while committing just one turnover, and three steals.

 

Other Notables:

  • Adaku Anumu, Principia College (Men's Basketball) Anumu led Principia to a come from behind win over MacMurray, scoring 18 of his 24 points in the second half; while going 8-of-14 from three-point range.
  • Natalie Busscher, Webster University (Women's Basketball) Busscher was busy in limited action, finishing with 15 points, six rebounds, and four steals in just 16 minutes of action in a win over Blackburn.
  • Hank Thomas, Eureka College (Men's Basketball) Thomas scored a career high 44 points against Greenville, just three points shy of the program record for single-game scoring.
  • Nick Trisko, Spalding University (Men's Basketball) Trisko picked up two more double-doubles last week, averaging 20.0 points and 12.0 rebounds per game, giving him 11 this season which ranks 6th in NCAA Division III.
