SLIAC Players of the Week - May 2

This week's St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Players of the Week are: Conrad Bollinger, from Principia College; Anna Grobelny, from Webster University; Deion Hughes, from Westminster College; Amber Kilburn, from Spalding University; Trevor Montgomery, from Greenville College; Shontee Pant, from Principia College; Shannon Perrigo, from Westminster College; and Shane Witters-Hicks, from Principia College.


SLIAC/DIAMOND SPORTS BASEBALL HITTER OF THE WEEK
TREVOR MONTGOMERY - GREENVILLE COLLEGE

Trevor Montgomery is the SLIAC/Diamond Sports Hitter of the Week after helping the Panthers to an important double header sweep of Fontbonne University last weekend. Montgomery, a senior from Vandalia, Ill., went 5-for-7 in the two games, hitting two home runs with five runs batted in. In game one Montgomery went 1-for-3 with a two run home run that helped guide Greenville to a 4-3 win. In game two Montgomery went 4-for-4 with a home run and three RBI, including putting the Panthers on the board in their 7-2 win. Montgomery added a walk and finished the week with a 1.571 slugging percentage.


SLIAC/DIAMOND SPORTS BASEBALL PITCHER OF THE WEEK
DEION HUGHES - WESTMINSTER COLLEGE

Deion Hughes, is the SLIAC/Diamond Sports Pitcher of the Week after recording his 10th win of the season in game two of a three game series against Iowa Wesleyan. Hughes worked five innings in the game, allowing no runs and just three hits while striking out five. Hughes retired the final six batters he faced. Hughes currently leads the SLIAC in wins and is first in complete games and shutouts while ranking second in earned-run average and fourth in strikeouts.

 


SLIAC SOFTBALL HITTER OF THE WEEK
SHANNON PERRIGO - WESTMINSTER COLLEGE

Shannon Perrigo, a senior from Tebbetts, Mo., is this week's SLIAC Softball Hitter of the Week. Perrigo racked up seven hits over four conference games, driving in seven and hitting a home run. Perrigo went 3-for-5 in a double header against Blackburn, helping her team win both games. She followed by picking up four more hits in a double header against Principia, both wins. In game two of the double header Perrigo was 3-for-3 with two runs scored and three runs batted in. On the week Perrigo was 7-for-10 at the plate with three runs scored and a 1.000 slugging percentage.

SLIAC SOFTBALL PITCHER OF THE WEEK
AMBER KILBURN - SPALDING UNIVERSITY

Amber Kilburn is this week's SLIAC Pitcher of the Week after notching a complete game win over Iowa Wesleyan last week. Kilburn, a freshman from Salem, Ind., went all seven innings in game one of a double header, picking up her fourth win of the season. Kilburn limited Iowa Wesleyan to just six hits, allowing no runs while striking out three. With a 2-0 lead in the seventh inning, Kilbrun worked out of a jam stranding the tying runs on base by recording a pair of pop-ups to end the game.


SLIAC MEN'S FIELD ATHLETE OF THE WEEK
CONRAD BOLLINGER - PRINCIPIA COLLEGE

Conrad Bollinger flew to the top of the field last week in the Illinois College Twilight meet. Bollinger placed first in the pole vault with a height of 15'8.25". Bollinger's height was over a foot more than the nearest competitor and he currently ranks 11th in the nation on the qualifying list.

 

 

SLIAC MEN'S TRACK ATHLETE OF THE WEEK
SHANE WITTERS-HICKS - PRINCIPIA COLLEGE

Shane Witters-Hicks, a junior from Golden, Colo., is the SLIAC Men's Track Athlete of the Week. Witters-Hicks took first-place in the 3000 meter steeplechase at the Illinois College Twilight meet. Witters-Hicks finished the event with a time of 9:24.72, six seconds ahead of the second place finisher. Witters-Hicks time also ranks him second in Principia program history and he currently ranks 30th in the nation on the qualifying list.

 

SLIAC WOMEN'S FIELD ATHLETE OF THE WEEK
ANNA GROBELNY - WEBSTER UNIVERSITY

Anna Grobelny, a freshman from Fenton, Mo., takes home SLIAC Women's Field Athlete of the Week honors this week; marking the second time this season she has picked up weekly honors. Grobelny had two top five finishes at the Illinois College Twilight meet. Her best finish came in the triple jump, where she placed second with a jump of 34'5.75"; the best jump of the season by a SLIAC competitor and setting a school record. Grobelny also finished fifth in the long jump at Illinois College with a distance of 15'3.25".

SLIAC WOMEN'S TRACK ATHLETE OF THE WEEK
SHONTEE PANT - PRINCIPIA COLLEGE

Shontee Pant, a sophomore from Mokane, Mo., took second place in the 3000 meter steeple chase at the Illinois College Twilight meet. Pant finished in a time of 13:16.03, placing her third on the program's all-time list. This was Pant's first ever race in the event and is the third best time in the SLIAC this season.

  • Austin Earnest, Fontbonne Univeristy (Baseball) Tallied 16 strikeouts in two apperances last week, recording one win.
  • Amanda Gilliland, Spalding University (Softball) Hit .571 with three RBI and a home run in a double header sweep of Iowa Wesleyan.
  • Matt Mokriakow, Blackburn College (Baseball) Went 3-for-5 with three RBI and a home run in a game one win over Fontbonne.
  • Blake Strebler, Westminster College (Baseball) Hit .667 on the week including a 3-for-3 game with four RBI in game one against Blackburn.
  • Ray Vogel, Eureka College (Baseball) Went 2-for-3 with three runs scored and five RBI, including a home run, in a 10-1 win over Lincoln Christian.
