This week's SLIAC Players of the Week are a pair of sophomores who helped lead their teams to their first wins of the season; from Greenville Nick Trisko and from Fontbonne Chelsy Gibson.
SLIAC MEN'S BASKETBALL PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Trisko, a sophomore from Lexington, Ky., helped the Panthers record their first win of the season in a 97-84 victory over Dominican. Trisko scored 19 points in just 15 minutes of action off the bench. Trisko was 8-of-12 from the field and added seven rebounds and two blocked shots in the game. Earlier in the week Trisko netted 12 points and eight rebounds against Lindenwood. On the week Trisko averaged 15.5 points, 7.5 rebounds, and 1.0 blocks per game while shooting 63.6 from the field.
SLIAC WOMEN'S BASKETBALL PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Gibson, a sophomore from St. Louis, Mo., carried her team to their first win of the year in a 98-87 contest against St. Mary of the Woods. Gibson poured in 34 points, on 14-of-21 shooting, while grabbing 15 rebounds. Her 34 points are the fourth most in program history while the 14 field goals made are tied for most in program history. Earlier in the week Gibson netted 17 points with eight rebounds and two steals. On the week she averaged 25.5 points and 11.5 rebounds while shooting 65.6 percent from the field.
- Briana Rae, Blackburn College (Women's Basketball) Rae recorded her second straight double double by finishing with 24 points and 10 rebounds against Millikin last week.
- Hunter Ward, Webster University (Men's Basketball) Ward recorded 22 points and 10 rebounds against Millikin and was named to the Cavallo Classic All-Tournament Team.
