D3 News has picked Webster University as the 2014-15 St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference preseason favorites.
Webster University is picked as the favorites for the upcoming season while Spalding University and MacMurray College also received mention in the conference preview section. In addition Ahmad Smith, from Webster, was picked as the Preseason SLIAC Player of the Year and a Preseason Honorable Mention All-American.
From the preview edition D3 News says:
"Returning four starters and the top five scorers and top three rebounders, the Webster Gorloks (20-8) are set to defend their SLIAC title. First-Team All-League selections Ahmad Smith (16.4 ppg, 2.9 rpg, 2.1 apg) and Kevin Miller (14.6 ppg, 8.4 rpg) form a solid inside-outside combination. Spalding (19-8) could make a run with three starters back from its squad that reached the SLIAC Tournament final. Junior guard Brandon Goeing (10.4 ppg) anchors the scoring attack. MacMurray (19-7) must replace league MVP Brady Slagle if it wants to be in the running. Two starters are back for the Highlanders, led by senior Spencer Pratt (10.5 ppg)."
