Maryville University's Jaye O'Dell, a sophomore from O'Fallon, Mo. (Ft. Zumwalt West), has been named the SLIAC Softball Co-Pitcher of the Week for the week of April 21-27. It marks the third time this season that O'Dell has received the honor.

O'Dell went 3-0 for the week, with three appearances, three starts, two complete games and one shutout. She posted a 0.70 ERA in 20.0 innings on the mound, while also recording 27 strikeouts.

O'Dell had a career-high 13 strikeouts in Maryville 6-0 victory versus MacMurray, in which she allowed only one hit and one walk. She then recorded eight strikeouts, allowed four hits and one walk as Maryville completed a sweep at Fontbonne. O'Dell finished the week with 6.0 innings pitched and six batters struck out in Maryville's 4-1 victory versus Webster.

Maryville University's Erin Clark, a senior from Raymore, Mo. (Ray-Pec), has been named the SLIAC Softball Co-Pitcher of the Week for the week of April 21-27.

Clark made five appearances, had four starts, four complete games and two shutouts, while going 4-0 with one save. She posted a 1.12 ERA in 25.0 innings on the mound and had 14 strikeouts.

Clark threw a complete game in Maryville's 4-3, come-from-behind victory versus Webster. She allowed four hits, one walk and struck out seven batters in the win. She then took the mound in relief to record her first save of the season in the Saints 4-1 victory versus the Gorloks that helped them to a share of the 2008 SLIAC Regular Season Championship. She then recorded four strikeouts, three walks and gave up five hits in a 2-1 complete game victory versus nationally ranked #14 Washington University-St. Louis.

Apr 21-27 Alana Weissmueller Maryville (Mo.) So Kelso, Mo./Notre Dame

Maryville University's Alana Weissmueller, a sophomore from Kelso, Mo. (Notre Dame), has been named the SLIAC Softball Hitter of the Week for the week of April 21-27.

Weissmueller, the Saints' third baseman, hit .480 in seven games played last week. She went 12-for-25 at the plate with four runs scored, four doubles and three runs batted-in. Weissmueller also helped Maryville to a 7-0 record for the week, including a sweep versus Webster that helped the Saints to a share of the 2008 SLIAC Regular Season Championship.

Weissmueller went 2-for-4 with one double in the Saints game two victory versus the Gorloks that clinched the #1 seed in the SLIAC Tournament. She then hit 3-for-4 with one double and one run scored in a 2-1 upset versus nationally ranked #14 Washington University-St. Louis.

Webster University's Megan Sperry, a sophomore from Clarkston, Mich. (Mott CC), has been named the SLIAC Softball Pitcher of the Week for the week of April 14-20. It marks the second time this season that Sperry has earned the honor.

Sperry posted a 3-0 record last week with victories versus Eureka, Westminster and Fontbonne. She had a 1.67 ERA in 21.0 innings on the mound and also recorded 25 strikeouts. Sperry, who started and pitched three complete games, posted a season-high 13 strikeouts in the Gorloks 2-1 victory versus Eureka.

Webster University's Maria Hibbard, a senior from Rhinelander, Wis. (Three Lakes), has been named the SLIAC Softball Hitter of the Week for the week of April 14-20.

Hibbard, an outfielder, went 11-for-19 for a .579 average in six games played last week. She tallied two RBI, two doubles, one triple and one home run for the week, while also going 5-of-6 in stolen base attempts.

Hibbard had at least two hits in every game but one last week, finishing the week by going 3-for-4 in game two of a double header against Fontbonne. She also scored at least one run in five out the six games played and hit her first home run of the year in a 6-2 victory versus Westminster.

Greenville College's Amanda Davison, a freshman from Analy, Calif., has been named the SLIAC Softball Pitcher of the Week for the week of April 7-13.

Davison was 0-2 for the week, but in 13.0 innings pitched she walked only one batter, struck out four and recorded a 0.00 ERA. She allowed the opposition to hit only .196 at the plate in the two games.

Webster University's Kelsey Washam, a junior from Lincoln, Ill., has been named the SLIAC Softball Hitter of the Week for the week of April 7-13. It marks the second time this season that Washam has received the honor.

Washam, a shortstop, hit .833 in two games played last week. She was 5-for-6 at the plate with five RBI, three runs scored, two doubles and two home runs as Webster swept MacMurray College 16-0 and 5-0. Washam went 2-for-3 in game one with a double, home run, two RBI and two runs scored. In game two, she was a perfect 3-for-3 with a single, double, home run and three RBI.

Webster University’s Megan Sperry, a sophomore from Clarkston, Mich. (Mott CC), has been named the SLIAC Softball Pitcher of the Week for the week of March 31-April 6.

Sperry went 1-1 with a 0.54 ERA and nine strikeouts, pitching two complete games during the week.  She allowed just one earned run (two runs total), walked two and allowed five hits in 13 innings.  She threw a complete game two-hitter in Webster’s 4-1 win over Greenville, striking out six.  Sperry was the tough luck loser in the Gorloks’ 1-0 loss to Millikin, allowing just one run on three hits while striking out three in six innings.

Eureka College’s Emily Forbes, a senior from Bourbonnais, Ill. (Bradley-Bourbonnais) has been named the SLIAC Softball Hitter of the Week for the week of March 31-April 6.

Forbes, a shortstop, hit .600 (6-for-10) with a triple, four RBI and nine runs scored during the week.  In four games, she stole eight bases (in nine attempts), had four sacrifices and reached base on walks three times.  In the Red Devils’ 14-3 win over Lincoln Christian, Forbes had a career-high four runs scored and five stolen bases while recording a hit in her only official at-bat.  The second game of the LCC doubleheader featured a 3-for-4 performance with four RBI and three runs scored.  After a 0-for-2 with two sacrifices, a run scored and a stolen base in the opener of a doubleheader split with Westminster, Forbes went 2-for-3 with a triple and run scored in the nightcap.

Eureka College’s Abby Segal, a junior from Peoria, Ill. (Limestone), has been named the SLIAC Softball Pitcher of the Week for the week of March 24-30.

Segal posted a 3-0 record with two complete games and 17 strikeouts while not allowing an earned run and surrendering just nine hits in 19.1 innings over three games.  She threw a complete game one-hitter with eight strikeouts and allowing one unearned run in Eureka’s 8-1 win over MacMurray, holding the Highlanders hitless with runners on base.  Segal pitched 5.1 innings of three-hit relief to earn the win in the Red Devils 5-4 win in the nightcap over MacMurray.  She struck out six, surrendered two unearned runs and retired the final nine batters of the game.  Segal won her fourth straight decision with a complete game, five-hit shutout in a 1-0 win over St. Mary’s of the Woods.  That victory marked the 300th for Red Devil head coach Karen Sweitzer.

Eureka College’s Molly Wolber, a freshman from Rock Falls, Ill., has been named the SLIAC Softball Hitter of the Week for the week of March 24-30.

Wolber, an outfielder, hit .462 (6-for-13) with two doubles and three RBI during the week.  After a double in four at-bats in the opener of the doubleheader against MacMurray, she went 3-for-4 with the first three-RBI game for Eureka this season in the nightcap as the Red Devils swept MacMurray, 8-1 and 5-4.  Wolber had a two-run first inning double and drove in the game winning run with a bases loaded single in the bottom of the seventh inning.  She registered her second straight multi-hit game, and second of the season, in a 2-0 loss to Robert Morris-Springfield.

Eureka College's Abby Segal, a junior from Peoria, Ill. (Limestone), has been named the SLIAC Softball Pitcher of the Week for the week of March 17-23.

Segal went 1-0 last week with a complete game shutout versus MacMurray College in the Red Devils home opener. She had a no-hitter going until the bottom of the sixth inning and finished the game with only two hits and three walks. Segal also struck out a season-high eight batters to improve to 2-2 overall.

Maryville University’s Kristen Bray, a freshman from Ballwin, Mo. (Marquette), has been named the SLIAC Softball Hitter of the Week for the week of March 17-23.

Bray, a second baseman, hit .667 (4-for-6) with two runs batted in in two games last week.  She also scored three runs and had a perfect 1.000 fielding percentage.

She went 2-for-3 with one RBI in both games as the Saints swept Westminster College in a non-conference double header.

Maryville University’s Jaye O’Dell, a sophomore from O’Fallon, Mo. (Fort Zumwalt West), has been named the SLIAC Softball Pitcher of the Week for the week of March 10-16, an honor she also received for the week of March 3-9.

O’Dell made three relief appearances during the week, posting a 1-0 record with one save.  She surrendered three hits and just one unearned run while striking out three in five innings.

She was the winning pitcher in the Saints 13-3 win over the University of Dubuque, allowing one hit and striking out two in 2.2 innings.  O’Dell pitched a total of 2.1 innings in a pair of outings against Luther, allowing one hit and striking out one in a 5-3 Maryville loss; and earning the save with a 2.0 inning outing in a 4-3 Saint win.

Webster University’s Kelsey Washam, a junior from Lincoln, Ill., has been named the SLIAC Softball Hitter of the Week for the week of March 10-16.

Washam, a shortstop, hit .556 (10-for-18) with five doubles, a home run and nine runs batted in in six games.  She also scored seven runs and walked five times.  Washam finished the week with a .652 on-base percentage and a 1.000 slugging percentage.

She had at least one hit in each game including a 3-for-3 performance in an 8-6 win over Calvin in which she hit the game-winning grand slam in the bottom of the sixth.  She also had two-hit games in a 13-8 win over Monmouth (Ill.) and a 5-2 win over Calvin.

Maryville University's Jaye O'Dell, a sophomore from O'Fallon, Mo. (Ft. Zumwalt West), has been named the SLIAC Softball Pitcher of the Week for the week of March 3-9.

O'Dell made three appearances on the mound last week and went 2-0 with one save. She posted a 2.27 ERA in 12.1 innings of action, while recording nine strikeouts.

She threw 5.0 complete innings in a 13-3 victory versus Lake Erie College. She had six strikeouts, while allowing four hits, two earned runs and two walks. O'Dell's other victory was a 10-7 win versus Chapman University. She threw 3.1 innings in relief and gave up only two hits, no earned runs and two walks, while striking out two batters. O'Dell started on the mound in Maryville's 5-4 win versus Thomas More. She threw 4.0 innings and after coming out of the game, she returned to face the final batter in the bottom of the eighth inning to record the save.

Webster University's Allie Park, a junior from Troy, Ala. (Charles Henderson), has been named the SLIAC Softball Hitter of the Week for the week of March 3-9.

Park, an outfielder/pitcher, went 5-for-6 in two games last week at the Tucson Invitational Spring Games in Tucson, Ariz. Park recorded four RBI, three runs, two doubles and one home run to help the Gorloks to their first two wins of the season.

Park was 3-for-3 with one run, one double and one RBI in a 6-1 victory versus Kenyon College. She then collected two hits, three RBI and two runs in a 12-7 win versus Purdue North Central. Park hit what proved to be the game-winning home run in the third inning to give Webster an 8-7 lead.

Maryville University's Melinda Flowers, a junior transfer from Alton, Ill. (Lewis & Clark CC), has been named the SLIAC Softball Pitcher of the Week for the week of February 25-March 2.

Flowers started on the mound and threw a complete game shutout in an 8-0 victory versus Case Western Reserve University. She allowed only two hits, four walks and struck out five batters to improve to 1-1 on the season.

Maryville University's Evelyn Drummond, a sophomore from DeSoto, Mo., has been named the SLIAC Softball Hitter of the Week for the week of February 25-March 2.

Drummond, a shortstop, led the Saints at the plate with a .538 average in four games played last week. She had seven hits, six runs, three RBI, two triples and one home run as Maryville posted a 2-2 record at the Centre College March Mayhem Tournament.

Drummond went 3-for-4 with three RBI, three runs scored, one triple, one walk and two stolen bases in a 12-5 victory versus Wilmington College (Ohio). She then scored the lone run with a solo home run in Maryville's 3-1 loss to #6 DePauw University. Drummond added three hits, two RBI, two runs and one triple in an 8-0 victory versus Case Western Reserve University.
