Feb 15-21 Lindsay Syndess Principia So Wellesley Hills, Mass./Wellesley

Principia College's Lindsay Sydness, a sophomore from Wellesley Hills, Mass. (Wellesley), has been named the SLIAC Women's Basketball Player of the Week for the week of February 15-21. This marks the second time this season that she has earned the honor.

Sydness, a 6-1 forward, averaged a double-double last week with 18.5 points and 11.5 rebounds in two games played. She also had nine blocks, three assists and shot 15-of-38 (.395) from the floor and 7-of-10 (.700) from the free throw line.

Sydness had 17 points and 11 rebounds in Principia's 75-41 loss to Webster University. She added 20 points, 12 rebounds and seven blocks in the Panthers' 76-57 loss to Fontbonne University.

Feb 8-14 Calli Collier Fontbonne Jr Rolla, Mo./Rolla

Fontbonne University's Calli Collier, a junior from Rolla, Mo., has been named the SLIAC Women's Basketball Player of the Week for the week of February 8-14.

Collier, a 5-4 guard, averaged 22.0 points in two games played last week. She also shot 13-of-26 (.500) from the floor, 5-of-14 (.357) from three-point range, 13-of-16 (.813) from the charity stripe and dished out six assists.

Collier had 24 points and three assists in an 82-62 win over MacMurray College. She then added 20 points and three more assists in the Griffins' 103-75 victory versus Blackburn College.

Feb 1-7 Kariann Hill Blackburn Jr Fox Lake, Ill./Grant

Blackburn College's Kariann Hill, a junior from Fox Lake, Ill. (Grant), has been named the SLIAC Women's Basketball Player of the Week for the week of February 1-7, earning the honor for the second consecutive week. 

Hill, a 5-9 guard/forward, averaged a double-double over two games last week with 13.5 points and 11.0 rebounds.  She also had six assists and four steals while shooting 50 percent (13-of-26) from the field and only turning the ball over one time.

 

Hill helped the Beavers extend their win streak to six straight with victories over Eureka College (74-58) and Principia College (63-50).  Following an eight-point, eight-rebound effort at Eureka, she posted a 19-point, 14-rebound, five-assist performance against Principia.  Hill has led her team in scoring or rebounding in each of the last five games, including three games in which she led the Beavers in both categories.

Blackburn College's Kariann Hill, a junior from Fox Lake, Ill. (Grant), has been named the SLIAC Women's Basketball Player of the Week for the week of January 25-31.

Hill, a 5-9 guard/forward, averaged 18.5 points and 6.0 rebounds in two games played last week. She also shot 14-of-25 (.560) from the field and 8-of-12 (.667) from the free throw line, while recording five assists and seven steals.

Hill had a game-high 22 points in Blackburn's 70-63  win on the road at Westminster College. She also added six rebounds and four steals. Hill recorded 15 points and six rebounds earlier in the week in the Beavers' 73-65 overtime victory versus Webster University.

Jan 18-24 Ashley Will MacMurray So Teutopolis, Ill./Teutopolis

MacMurray College's Ashley Will, a sophomore from Teutopolis, Ill., has been named the SLIAC Women's Basketball Player of the Week for the week of January 18-24.

Will, a 6-2 center, averaged 17.5 points and 13 rebounds in two games played last week. She also had five steals, one block and shot 15-of-24 (.625) from the field. Will had 23 points on 83 percent shooting from the field and added 17 rebounds in the Highlanders 93-82 win over Spalding University. She also added 12 points and 9 rebounds in MacMurray's 66-56 victory versus Principia College.

Principia College's Lindsay Sydness, a sophomore from Wellesley, Mass., has been named the SLIAC Women's Basketball Player of the Week for the week of January 11-17.

Sydness, a 6-1 forward, averaged a double-double with 18.5 points and 16.5 rebounds in two games played last week. She had 21 points and 11 rebounds, along with two blocks in the Panthers 59-53 loss to Westminster College. She added 16 points and 22 rebounds in their loss on the road at Fontbonne University.

Jan 4-10 Whitney Meurer Westminster (Mo.) Sr St. James, Mo./St. James

Westminster College's Whitney Meurer, a senior from St. James, Mo., has been named the SLIAC Women's Basketball Player of the Week for the week of January 4-10.

Meurer, a 5-8 guard, averaged 18.5 points and 5.5 rebounds in two games played last week. She also shot 12-of-28 (.428) from the field, 8-of-16 (.500) from three-point range and 5-of-6 (.833) from the free throw line, while tallying seven steals, five assists and one block.

Meurer broke the Blue Jays record for three-point shots made in a half (6) and in a game (8) in Westminster's 80-37 win versus Greenville College. She finished with 28 points, five rebounds, six steals, four assists and one block in 27 minutes of play. She also shot 60 percent from the floor, including 57 percent from behind the arc.

Fontbonne University's Mallory Ludwig, a junior from Freeburg, Ill., has been named the SLIAC Women's Basketball Player of the Week for the week of December 28-January 3.

Ludwig, a 6-2 center, scored a team-high 21 points and grabbed a team-high eight rebounds in the Griffins 77-51 win over Eureka College. She also recorded two blocks and one steal in the game, while shooting 10-of-17 (.588) from the field.

Dec 14-27 Lisa Byard Eureka So Morton, Ill./Morton

Eureka College's Lisa Byard, a sophomore from Morton, Ill., has been named the SLIAC Women's Basketball Player of the Week for the weeks of December 14-27. This marks the second time this season that she has earned the honor.

Byard, a 6-1 forward, averaged 24 points and 10.5 rebounds in two games played. She also recorded four assists, two steals and one block, while also shooting 19-of-32 (.594) from the field and 10-of-13 (.769) from the charity stripe.

Byard scored 22 points and grabbed 14 rebounds in an 86-79 loss to Knox College. She added 26 points on 11-of-14 (.786) shooting from the field and grabbed seven rebounds in Eureka's 75-61 loss to Dominican University (Ill.).

Dec 7-13 Chantaivia Knight Eureka So Normal, Ill./University

Eureka College's Chantaivia Knight, a sophomore from Normal, Ill. (University), has been named the SLIAC Women's Basketball Player of the Week for the week of December 7-13.

Knight, a 6-0 forward, recorded a double-double with 18 points and 11 rebounds in Eureka's 75-70 win over Greenville College in SLIAC play last week. Knight, who successfully converted a three-point play in the final minute of the game to force overtime, finished 7-of-12 (.583) from the field and 4-of-4 (1.000) from the charity stripe. She also added three assists and two steals.

The win was the first in conference play this season for the Red Devils. They now stand at 3-4 overall and 1-1 in the SLIAC.

Nov 30-Dec 6 Maggie Zehner Webster Fr St. Louis, Mo./Oakville

Webster University's Maggie Zehner, a freshman from St. Louis, Mo. (Oakville), has been named the SLIAC Women's Basketball Player of the Week for the week of November 30-December 6.

Zehner, a 5-7 guard, averaged 16.5 points, seven assists and six steals in two games played last week. She also shot 10-of-20 (.500) from the field, 4-of-9 (.444) from three-point range and 9-of-12 (.750) from the charity stripe.

Zehner, who has been handling the point guard position for the Gorloks, recorded a team-high 15 points and three steals in a 66-60 victory versus Blackburn College. She then followed that with 18 points and a team-high five assists and three steals in Webster's 88-72 win on the road at MacMurray College.

Webster improves to 4-2 overall and 2-0 in the SLIAC with the two wins last week. Their 88 points versus MacMurray was the most points scored by the Gorloks in five seasons.

Eureka College's Lisa Byard, a sophomore from Morton, Ill., has been named the SLIAC Women's Basketball Player of the Week for the week of November 15-22.

Byard, a 6-1 forward, averaged a double-double last week with 28.5 points and 13.5 rebounds in two games played. She shot 18-of-33 (.545) from the field and 21-of-28 (.750) from the charity stripe. Byard scored a career-high 34 points and grabbed a career-high 14 rebounds in the Red Devils season-opening 77-40 win versus Mount Mary College. She added another double-double with 24 points and 13 rebounds in a 66-46 loss to Milwaukee School of Engineering.
