Feb 16-22 Meredith Banal Greenville Sr Vandalia, Ill./Vandalia

Greenville College's Meredith Banal, a senior from Vandalia, Ill., has been named the SLIAC Women's Basketball Player of the Week for the week of February 16-22.

Banal, a 5-6 guard, averaged 26.5 points and 9.0 rebounds in two games played last week. She also shot 48.6 percent (18-of-37) from the field, 83.3 percent (15-of-18) from the charity stripe and recorded four assists and four steals.

Banal had 15 points, nine rebounds, three assists and two steals in a 70-56 loss at Blackburn College. She then had an outstanding performance with 38 points, nine rebounds, two steals and one assist in the Panthers 77-70 overtime win on the road at Webster University. She shot 56.5 percent (13-of-23) from the field and 85.7 percent (12-of-14) from the free throw line in the win.

Feb 9-15 Aerial Hawkey Blackburn So Teutopolis, Ill./

Blackburn College's Aerial Hawkey, a sophomore from Teutopolis, Ill., has been named the SLIAC Women's Basketball Player of the Week for the week of February 9-15.

Hawkey, a 5-9 guard/forward, averaged 18.0 points and 7.0 rebounds in two games played last week. She also tallied seven assists, five steals, three blocks and shot 42.9 percent (12-of-28) from the floor, 58.3 percent (7-of-12) from three-point range and 62.5 percent (5-of-8) from the free throw line.

Hawkey had 18 points and four assists in the Beavers 60-57 victory versus Eureka College. She then recorded a double-double with 18 points and 11 rebounds in Blackburn's 68-57 win over Webster University. In that game she shot 6-of-14 (.429) from the field, including 4-of-6 (.667) from behind the arc and also added three assists, three steals and two blocks.

Feb 2-8 Christina Speer Principia Sr Ballwin, Mo./Principia Upper

Principia College's Christina Speer, a senior from Ballwin, Mo. (Principia Upper), has been named the SLIAC Women's Basketball Player of the Week for the week of February 2-8. This marks the third time this season she has earned the honor.

Speer, a 6-2 post player, averaged 21.5 points, 9.5 rebounds, 6.0 steals and 4.0 blocks in two games played last week. She also shot 55.0 percent (11-of-20) from the field and 95.5 percent (21-of-22) from the free throw line.

Speer had 15 points, eight rebounds, six steals, four assists and three blocks in the Panthers' 71-53 victory versus Fontbonne. She added 28 points, 11 rebounds, six steals and five blocks in a 62-59 win over Eureka. She shot 16-of-17 (.941) from the charity stripe for the game, tying her own school record of 16 consecutive free throws made in a game. Her 16 made free throws also ties the SLIAC record for Free Throws Made in a game.

Fontbonne University's Callie Collier, a sophomore from Rolla, Mo., has been named the SLIAC Women's Basketball Player of the Week for the week of January 26-February 1.

Collier, a 5-5 guard, averaged 21.5 points in two games played last week while also shooting 54.2 percent (13-of-24) from the field, 50.0 percent (9-of-18) from three-point range and 80.0 percent (8-of-10) from the free throw line.

Collier had 24 points and six rebounds in the Griffins' 81-77 victory on the road at Blackburn. She added 19 points and three steals in Fontbonne's 77-57 win over Eureka.

Jan 19-25 Christina Speer Principia Sr Ballwin, Mo./Principia Upper

Principia College's Christina Speer, a senior from Ballwin, Mo. (Principia Upper), has been named the SLIAC Women's Basketball Player of the Week for the week of January 19-25. This is the second consecutive week that she has earned the honor.

Speer, a 6-2 post player, averaged another double-double last week with 19 points and 11 rebounds in three games played. She also shot a perfect 15-of-15 from the charity stripe, was 21-of-34 (.618) from the field and tallied seven assists, seven blocks and six steals.

Speer had 22 points and 15 rebounds in the Panthers 87-74 victory versus Webster University. In that game she sank a perfect 10-of-10 from the free throw line and recorded four steals, three assists and one block. Speer also recorded a double-double with 25 points and 16 rebounds in a 67-65 loss on the road at Blackburn College. In just eight minutes played in Principia's non-conference win (68-31) over St. Louis College of Pharmacy, Speer had 10 points, one assist, one steal and one block.

Principia College's Christina Speer, a senior from Ballwin, Mo. (Principia Upper), has been named the SLIAC Women's Basketball Player of the Week for the week of January 12-18.

Speer, a 6-2 post player, averaged a double-double last week with 22 points and 18 rebounds in two games played. She also shot 16-of-29 (.552) from the field and 12-of-13 (.923) from the charity stripe, while tallying eight assists, seven steals and three blocks.

Speer had 28 points, 15 rebounds, five assists and three steals in a 72-64 loss to Westminster College (Mo.). She also shot 67 percent from the field and shot 8-of-9 (.889) from the free throw line. Speer added 16 points, 21 rebounds, four steals, three assists and went 4-of-4 from the charity stripe in a 63-60 loss to Fontbonne University.

Webster University's Myrtie Reilly, a freshman from St. Louis, Mo. (St. Joseph's), has been named the SLIAC Women's Basketball Player of the Week for the week of January 5-11.

Reilly, a 6-3 center, came close to averaging a double-double with 10.5 points and 9.5 rebounds in two games played last week. She also tallied nine blocks total while shooting 41.2 percent (7-of-17) from the field and 87.5 percent (7-of-8) from the free throw line. Reilly's big game was a 17 point, 12 rebound and seven block performance in Webster's 82-76 overtime victory versus Fontbonne University.

Fontbonne University's Kathryn Kirby, a senior from Foristell, Mo. (Lutheran SC), has been named the SLIAC Women's Basketball Player of the Week for the period of December 22-January 4.

Kirby, a 5-11 forward, averaged 21.5 points in two games played over the break, while shooting 56.5 percent (13-of-23) from the field, 58.3 percent (7-of-12) from behind the arc and 100 percent (10-of-10) from the charity stripe. She had 13 points, three rebounds and two steals in a 78-54 loss to Hawaii Pacific University. Kirby then scored 30 points on 10-of-15 (.667) shooting from the field, 4-of-7 (.571) from three-point range and 6-of-6 (1.000) from the free throw line in the Griffins 94-77 win over Greenville College in conference play.

Eureka College's Lisa Byard, a freshman from Morton, Ill., has been named the SLIAC Women's Basketball Player of the Week for the week of December 8-14.

Byard, a 6-1 forward, recorded her first career double-double with 23 points and 10 rebounds in Eureka's 69-52 win over Fontbonne last week. She shot 57.1 percent (8-of-14) from the field and was 7-of-9 (.778) from the charity stripe.

Westminster College's Ashley Stanfill, a senior from Columbia, Mo. (Rock Bridge), has been named the SLIAC Women's Basketball Player of the Week for the week of December 1-7.

Stanfill, a forward/center, averaged a double-double last week with 18.5 points and 11.0 rebounds in two games played. She also shot 68.2 percent (15-of-22) from the floor and tallied one assist.

Stanfill had 13 points and five rebounds in the Blue Jays 77-74 victory versus Webster University. She then added a game-high 24 points and 17 rebounds in a 73-66 win on the road at Blackburn College. Her 17 rebounds was also a individual single-game school record.

Nov 24-30 Sierra Shipley Blackburn So Waukegan, Ill./

Blackburn College's Sierra Shipley, a sophomore from Waukegan, Ill., has been named the SLIAC Women's Basketball Player of the Week for the week of November 24-30.

Shipley, a 5-9 forward/guard, averaged 23.0 points in two games played last week. She also averaged 8.5 rebounds, recorded two assists, two blocks and two steals, while shooting 57.7 percent (15-of-26) from the field, 66.7 percent (2-of-3) from three-point range and 82.4 percent (14-of-17) from the free throw line.

Shipley was the high scorer in both Blackburn losses. She had 26 points and nine rebounds in an 84-49 loss to Mount Vernon Nazarene. She then added 20 points in the Beavers 75-54 loss to Indiana University-South Bend.

Nov 16-23 Chantaivia Knight Eureka Fr Normal, Ill./University

Eureka College's Chantaivia Knight, a freshman from Normal, Ill. (University), has been named the SLIAC Women's Basketball Player of the Week for the week of November 16-23.

Knight, a 6-0 forward, was one of five players making their first start for the Red Devils. She scored a team-high 14 points and grabbed a game-high 12 rebounds, marking the first time since the 2004-05 season that an Eureka freshman has recorded a double-double. Her 14 points and 12 rebounds were also the most by a Red Devils freshman since 2004-05, and her 14 points was the most by a freshman in a season opener since 1999.

Knight scored 10 of her 14 points in a five-minute span during a 14-6 run by the Red Devils in the second half that gave them a 35-32 lead. Eureka lost 60-53 to Monmouth College (Ill.).
