2012 Women's Tennis Players of the Week

Kelly Adams (Principia)

Principia College's Kelly Adams, a freshman from Plano, Texas, has been named the Women's Tennis Player of the Week for the week of April 9-15.

Adams posted decisive victories at #1 Singles with a 6-0, 6-1 victory against Blackburn College and a 6-0, 6-2 victory versus Webster University. Her win in singles play against Webster was the lone singles point for Principia in the 7-2 loss. Adams and teammate Courtney Banko also paired to go 1-1 at #1 Doubles last week. They won 8-3 versus Blackburn and lost 8-3 versus Webster.

Allison Tungate (Webster)
Webster University's Allison Tungate, from Flora, Ill., has been named the Women's Tennis Player of the Week for the week of April 2-8.

Tungate shutout her competition at #2 Singles last week, winning both of her matches 6-0, 6-0 against both Blackburn College and Greenville College. She also posted a 9-8 (7-1) victory at #1 Doubles versus Greenville along with teammate and her sister, Paige Tungate. Allison has won 13 staight singles matches, compiling a 14-2 record on the season.

Marianna Hronek (Principia)
Principia College's Marianna Hronek, a senior from Traverse City, Mich. (Principia Upper), has been named the Women's Tennis Player of the Week for the week of March 26-April 1.

Hronek went 3-0 at both #3 Singles and #2 Doubles last week. After a 6-0, 6-1 win against Fontbonne University's Sarah Mueller in singles play, Hronek battled to two three-set victories versus both Maryville University (Mo.) and Westminster College (Mo.). She won 6-4, 4-6, 6-4 against Maryville and defeated Westminster's Lara Banner 7-5, 6-7(6), 7-5, coming from behind in all three sets.

In doubles play, Hronek and teammate Hilary Frandsen won all three of their matches 8-1, and the duo now stands at 3-0 in conference play.

Courtney Banko (Principia)
Principia College's Courtney Banko, a senior from Lakewood, Wash. (Annie Wright), has been named the Women's Tennis Player of the Week for the week of March 19-25.

Banko posted a 3-0 record at #5 Singles and 2-1 at #1 Doubles as Principia went 2-1 last week. In singles action she recorded two, 6-0, 6-0, shutouts versus Central Christian College and Eureka College. Banko also battled to a 6-2, 7-5 victory versus Illinois Wesleyan University, the lone match victory in the 8-1 loss.

In doubles play, Banko and teammate Kelly Adams won 8-2 against Central Christian, 8-5 against Eureka and lost a tough 9-8 (2) match at #1 doubles to Illinois Wesleyan.

Lauren Hacker (Webster)
Webster University's Lauren Hacker, a freshman from Tempe, Ariz. (Corona del Sol), has been named the Women's Tennis Player of the Week for the week of March 5-11.

Hacker, who had played six singles matches at #5, played the #4 spot for the first time versus Fontbonne University and the #3 spot for the first time versus Stephens College. She came through with 6-0, 6-0 and 6-0, 6-1 victories respectively, improving her singles record to 6-2 overall. Hacker also improved to 5-3 in doubles play as she and teammate Lindsey Hays won 8-1 against Fontbonne University at #2 doubles.

The Webster women went 2-0 last week defeating Fontbonne University, 9-0, and Stephens College, 8-1.

Hilary Frandsen (Principia)
Principia College's Hilary Frandsen, a sophomore from St. Augustine, Fla. (Bartram Trail), has been named the Women's Tennis Player of the Week for the week of February 27-March 4.

Frandsen posted a 3-0 record at #2 Singles and a 2-1 record at #1 Doubles as Principia went 2-1 overall last week. In a 9-0 dual match victory over Lindenwood University-Belleville, Frandsen tallied a 6-3, 6-4 singles win and an 8-4 doubles win. She won the #2 Singles flight at the Principia Invitational, defeating University of Missouri-St. Louis' Danielle Henkel 6-2, 7-6(4), and Missouri Baptist University's Nikki Riddle 6-1, 6-3.
