Only one champion remains to be determined in 2008, as the SLIAC Baseball Tournament begins this Thursday, May 8. Webster University is the top-seed after posting a 21-3 record in conference play. the Gorloks, who will be looking for their fourth consecutive conference tournament championship, will take on #4-seeded Greenville College. Westminster College clinched the #2 spot in the tournament with a record of 16-8 and will play #3-seeded Maryville University.

The 2008 SLIAC Baseball Tournament is scheduled to be played at Principia College in Elsah, Ill., with the championship game on Saturday, May 10, to be played at Gordon Moore Park in Alton, Ill.

The 2008 SLIAC Softball Tournament Championship went to Maryville, as the Saints went 3-0 in the tournament with an opening round victory versus Blackburn and then back-to-back victories versus Webster. Maryville advances to the NCAA Division III Tournament with the automatic qualifying bid and will face nationally ranked No. 1 DePauw University in their opening game at the Rock Island, Ill., Regional.

Westminster's men's tennis and Principia's women's tennis programs both went 0-1 in the first round of the NCAA Championships. Westminster lost 5-0 to Grinnell College, while Principia lost 9-0 to Sewanee: University of the South.
