THIS WEEK IN THE SLIAC

January 12, 2010

The SLIAC is down to just one undefeated team in conference play on both the men's and women's side. The Westminster College men and Webster University women are currently unbeaten in SLIAC play this season. The Blue Jays stand at 4-0 and 9-4 overall, while the Gorloks are 5-0 and 9-4 overall.

The Webster women have only one conference game on the slate this week. They will host cross-town rival Fontbonne University on Wednesday, January 13. The Griffins are currently 3-2 in conference play.

The Westminster me are at Principia College tonight (Tuesday, January 12), and will host Eureka College on Saturday, January 16. The Red Devils are currently 4-1 in conference play.

In the latest NCAA Division III national statistical rankings, two SLIAC men's basketball players are ranked in the top 20. Fontbonne University's Joshua Branch is ranked 14th in Three-Point Field Goals per Game (3.4) and 15th in Points per Game (22.3). Greenville College's LaPhonso Ellis is ranked 14th in Three-Point Field Goal Percentage.

In the women's basketball national team statistical rankings, Principia College is ranked first in Blocked Shots per Game (7.1) and Eureka College is ranked 16th in Field Goal Percentage (44.6). Individually, only Principia's Lyndsay Sydness is ranked in the top 20. She is ranked first in Blocked Shots per Game (5.0).
