With only one week remaining before the holidays are upon us, the men's basketball teams within the SLIAC are wasting no time playing as much competition as their schedules will allow. The Westminster College men's squad, who currently boast the best overall record in the SLIAC at 4-1, will take on Walsh University (Ohio) and Fresno Pacific University in Honolulu, Hawaii. Webster University and Maryville University (Mo.) both travel to Milwaukee, Wis., to take on Milwaukee School of Engineering.

Blackburn College and MacMurray College are the only other men's teams to face competition this week. Blackburn will be on the road at Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology and at Robert Morris College-Springfield. MacMurray hosts Lakeland College (Wis.).

Leading the SLIAC men in scoring are five players averaging 15+ points per game. Westminster's Andrew Buxton is currently the leader with 22.4 points per game. Principia College's Kyle Johnson is the rebounding leader with 9.4 rebounds per game, while Webster's Ryan Turk and Fontbonne University's Patrick McCoy are both averaging 3.43 assists per game.

While the men are hard at work, the women's squads are taking time to rest and recharge for after the holiday. The MacMurray women will be the only team in action this week, when they travel to North Park University on Tuesday, December 18.

Leading the SLIAC women in scoring are five players averaging 15+ points per game thus far. MacMurray's Abby Lowe and Eureka College's Nicole Fisher are ranked first and second respectively in scoring with 19.2 and 17.8 points per game. Fisher also currently leads the conference in rebounding with 13.9 rebounds per game.
