Conference basketball action is well under way after two rounds of conference games last week. There are four undefeated teams, including Maryville University (Mo.) at 2-0, on the women's side, while only three men's teams are undefeated, with both Westminster College (Mo.) and Eureka College at 2-0.

The Westminster men had their best start in conference play since the 1995-96 season. The Blue Jays had three players average double figures in scoring in the two games - Andrew Buxton (23 ppg), Landon Kurz (15.5 ppg) and Jason Warncke (14.0 ppg). Webster University and Fontbonne University opened SLIAC play with a highly touted matchup that found the Gorloks coming out on top with an 84-62 victory. The Gorloks had four players score in double figures, including Brad Robinson, who finished with 10 points and 13 rebounds for the double-double.

MacMurray College's women's squad was the surprise team of the week, as the Highlanders defeated Principia College 75-70 in overtime. The Highlanders' Abby Lowe scored a game-high 38 points on 13-of-22 shooting from the field, 6-of-8 from three-point range and 6-of-11 from the charity stripe. Eureka's Nicole Fisher averaged 22.5 points per game and 20.5 rebounds per game, as the Red Devils went 1-1 for the week. Maryville's Sara Wemlinger averaged 22.0 points per game in two games, as she helped the Saints extend their regular season conference win streak to 62 games.

The Fontbonne and MacMurray women will meet in the lone conference game this week. The Griffins will host the Highlanders on Wednesday, December 12, at 6:00 pm.
