Basketball season is in full swing, with all but one SLIAC team having played at least one game since the season tipped off on Friday, November 16. With conference play scheduled to begin on Wednesday, December 5, all the squads are trying to get in as much non-conference competition as possible.

Principia College is the only undefeated team on the men's side, after defeating St. Louis College of Pharmacy, 71-67, last week. Fontbonne University and Webster University, the top two favorites in the conference this year, each have two wins. Fontbonne stands at 2-1 after winning their last two games, including a 66-65 victory versus Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology. Webster began the season 2-0, but has dropped their last two at home.

Principia's Kyle Johnson leads the conference with 24.0 points per game, while the Panthers' Todd Zimmerman is third in scoring with 20.0 points per game. Westminster College's Andrew Buxton currently ranks second with 22.5 points per game through two games played.

Webster and Greenville College both have two victories on the women's side, while Maryville University (Mo.) is the only other team to pick up a victory thus far. After losing their first game on the road, Webster has won two straight, including a 64-63 victory versus Central Methodist University. Greenville has also picked up wins in their last two games, with junior Meredith Banal posting 31 points in a 67-50 victory at Knox College.

Banal and Eureka College's Nicole Fisher are the only two players averaging 18.0 points or more thus far. Fisher currently leads the conference with 18.3 points per game through three games played. Banal is averaging 18.0 points per game through three games played.
