The four team fields are set for
the 2007 SLIAC Men's and Women's Soccer Tournaments, which will take
place this week. Men's semifinal action will be on Wednesday, October 31,
with No. 4 Maryville University (Mo.) traveling to Elsah, Ill., to take
on top-seeded Principia College at 4:30 pm. After losing 4-1 to
Westminster College (Mo.) this past weekend on the road, No. 3 Fontbonne
University will have to turn around and go back to Fulton, Mo., to take
on the No. 2 seeded Blue Jays once again. Game time is scheduled for
7:00 pm.
The women's seedings came down to a
three-way tie for first place in the regular season standings.
Maryville, Principia and Webster University all finished 7-1 in
conference play, but Webster won the overall tie-breaker to grab the No.
1 seed. No. 2 Principia and No. 3 Maryville will face each other for the
third time this season on Thursday, November 1, at 6:00 pm in Elsah,
Ill. No. 4 Greenville College will travel to take on the Gorloks at 7:00
pm at Anheuser-Busch Soccer Park in Fenton, Mo.
Volleyball action wraps up early
this week, but it looks like Webster, Principia, Greenville and
Fontbonne will be seeded No. 1-4 respectively. The 2007 SLIAC Volleyball
Tournament will be held on Saturday, November 3, at the highest seed.
Webster currently sits in first place at 15-1. The Gorloks need
victories versus Westminster and MacMurray College this week to clinch
the No. 1 seed and hosting rights.
