Action for fall sports
begins in a few days, and all 10 Conference schools are
gearing up for a competitive season. Here's a look at what fans can
expect this season...
VOLLEYBALL
2007 looks to be a tight race between Webster University and
Principia College. The Panthers went undefeated in regular season
conference play in 2006, but Webster came out on top in the
conference tournament to earn the automatic qualifying bid to the
NCAA Tournament. Principia returns 2006 SLIAC Player of the Year in
junior Christina Speer, while the Gorloks will have 2006 SLIAC
Newcomer of the Year, Jackie Schall back on the roster, along with
First Team All-SLIAC honoree Crystal Shelton.

First-Team All-SLIAC honoree and Player of the Year, Kevin Fann
and senior Second Team All-SLIAC honoree, Scott Filla to a
squad that posted a 12-4-2 overall mark in 2006. The two also
combined for a total of 32 goals on the season. Fontbonne University
and Principia College will look to give the Gorloks a race for the
top spot. The Griffins return junior goalkeeper Jess Jobe,
who earned Second Team All-SLIAC honors last season. Senior
midfielder and Second Team All-SLIAC honoree, Don Tebeau,
also returns for Fontbonne.

conference play and a return trip to the NCAA Division III
Tournament. McClure, a forward, posted 19 goals and seven assists in
2006, while earning SLIAC Newcomer of the Year and First Team All-SLIAC
honors. Steiner, a midfielder, was also a First Team All-SLIAC

youth, Principia College, who received two first place votes in the
pre-season coaches' poll, will have seniors Jessica Thompson
and Meagan Fleming back in the lineup. Thompson was a First
Team All-SLIAC selection and tallied 10 assists last season.
