The Westminster College baseball team is the only team in the SLIAC with a winning record through the first few weeks of non-conference play. The Blue Jays are 5-3 overall after starting the 2008 season with a 4-0 record. They recorded a double header split with the University of Wisconsin-Platteville this past weekend.

The first conference baseball games were postponed due to excessive rain in the area. Spring showers may cause more rainouts this weekend.

In softball action, Greenville College and Blackburn College both currently stand above .500 with overall records of 5-3 and 3-2 respectively. Maryville University has played 18 games so far and stands at 9-9. The Saints posted a 3-1 record last weekend at their own Marriott West Invitational. Webster University is 6-6 overall after going 6-2 on their spring trip to Tuscon, Ariz.

Last year's SLIAC men's golf individual champion, Nick Profancik, started the 2008 season with a strong showing at the Millikin Spring Opener. Profancik tied for second place out of 70 golfers, while also leading the Saints to a third place finish. Webster's men's golf team placed 12th overall at The GEICO Intercollegiate in Savannah, Ga. The Gorloks competed against some top Division III schools, as well as Division I and II teams, while defeating West Chester University, North Carolina Wesleyan and University of Virginia at Wise.

Men's and women's tennis have still seen limited action early in the season. Greenville's men's team stands at 2-1 overall, while the Westminster men are 2-2. Westminster's women are the only SLIAC team to have posted a victory thus far this season. The Blue Jays defeated Stephens 5-4 in their season opener and won 6-3 on the road at Piedmont this past weekend.
