Michael Zasada, a senior from McHenry, Ill., has been named the SLIAC Men’s Basketball Player of the
Week for the week of February 15-21. This marks the second time this
season that he has earned the honor.
Zasada,
a 6-5 forward, averaged a double-double in two games last week with
19.5 points and 14.0 rebounds per game. He also dished out 11
assists total and recorded three blocks and two steals, while
shooting 14-of-25 (.560) from the field, 4-of-11 (.364) from
three-point range and 7-of-9 (.778) from the charity stripe.
Zasada
scored 13 points and gathered a season-high 16 rebounds in the Red
Devils' 80-64 non-conference victory versus Lincoln Christian
University. He also tied his own career-high six assists against
Lincoln Christian. Zasada added 26 points and 12 rebounds to help
Eureka to an 82-56 win versus Westminster and a guaranteed spot in
the 2010 SLIAC Tournament, their first conference tournament berth
since 2006-07. |

Forrest, a 6-4 guard, averaged 27.5 points and 7.0 rebounds in two
games played last week. He shot 18-of-32 (.563) from the field,
6-of-11 (.545) from three-point range and 13-of-18 (.722) from the
free throw line, while also tallying five steals and three assists.
Forrest
had 25 points in the Griffins 89-69 loss at MacMurray College. He
then recorded a double-double with 30 points and 11 rebounds in 28
minutes on the floor in Fontbonne's 111-84 victory versus Blackburn
College. |

Sykes,
a 6-5 forward, averaged 22.0 points, 13.0 rebounds and 3.0 assists in
two games last week. He also had three blocks, two steals and shot
17-of-40 (.425) from the field.
Sykes
scored 22 points in each of the Beavers’ contests, an 84-78 loss at
Eureka and a 66-60 victory over Principia College. He recorded a
double-double against Principia, pulling down 17 rebounds, after just
missing the feat against Eureka College, finishing with nine boards.

MacMurray College's Brady Slagle, a freshman from
Winchester, Ill. (West Central), has been named the SLIAC Men's Basketball Player of
the Week for the week of January 25-31.
Slagle, a 6-5 guard, averaged 20.0 points
and 8.0 rebounds in two games played last week. He also had five
assists, two blocks, one steal and shot 15-of-26 (.577) from the field.
Slagle recorded
career highs in points (21), rebounds (7), blocks (2) and assists (5) in
MacMurray's 95-93 come-from-behind overtime victory at Eureka College.
He blocked Eureka's Kameron Bell's shot with 34 seconds left to play in
overtime, recovered the ball to preserve the tie and set up CJ
McClellan's game-winning shot. Slagle added 19 points and broke his
career-high in rebounds with nine in the Highlander's second straight
overtime victory, 73-71, over Webster University.

the Week for the week of January 18-24. This marks the third time
this season that he has earned the honor.
Bell, a 6-2 guard, averaged 27.5
points and 10.5 rebounds in two games played last week. He also
had 16 assists, five steals and shot 21-of-37 (.568) from the
field, 5-of-12 (.417) from three-point range and 8-of-9 (.889)
from the free throw line.
Bell
recorded Eureka's first triple-double on record with 20 points,
10 rebounds and 10 assists in their 93-67 win versus Principia
College. He also had a 35 point and 11 rebound performance in
the Red Devils 109-105 overtime victory at Blackburn. That win
was also the 1,000th victory in Eureka's men's basketball
history. |

recorded nine assists, three steals, one block and shot 17-of-33
(.515) from the field and 9-of-10 (.900) from the free throw
line.
McAfee had
a double-double with 25 points and 10 rebounds in a 77-67 win
versus Greenville College. He then added 19 points and eight
rebounds in the Golden Eagles 73-57 victory versus Blackburn
College. |

has been named the SLIAC Men's Basketball Player of the Week for the
week of January 4-10.
Moore, a 6-3 forward, averaged 13 points
and 4.3 rebounds in three games played last week. He also recorded seven
blocks, six steals, two assists and shot 15-of-37 (.405) from the field,
6-of-17 (.353) from three-point range and 3-of-4 (.750) from the charity
stripe.
Moore had 17
points, seven rebounds, two blocks and three steals in a 64-56 victory
versus Eureka College. He played a big part for the Gorloks in keeping
Eureka's scoring duo of Michael Zasada and Kameron Bell to 12-of-30
shooting from the field for a total of 29 points, 16 points below their
combined scoring average in SLIAC games.
Moore also
recorded 11 points, six rebounds, two blocks and two steals in a 75-56
win at Principia College. He added 11 points and three blocks in a 69-60
loss at nationally ranked #1 Washington University-St. Louis.

Zimmermann, a 6-2 guard, had 15 points, 10
assists and eight rebounds in Principia's 76-59 victory versus Blackburn
College this past weekend. He also shot 5-of-10 (.500) from the field,
1-of-3 (.333) from behind the arc and 4-of-6 (.667) from the charity
stripe.
The win was
Principia's second consecutive and their first after a 20-day winter
break.

eight rebounds, six assists, two steals and one block.
Branch had
26 points on 11-of-15 (.733) shooting in Fontbonne's 75-50
victory versus Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology. He also
recorded six rebounds and six rebounds in the win. Branch added
14 points in the Griffins' 82-64 loss to nationally ranked #1

Bell, a 6-2 guard, scored 38
points and grabbed 12 rebounds in Eureka's 98-87 SLIAC victory
versus Greenville College. He shot 16-of-22 (.727) from the
field, including 4-of-7 (.571) from three-point range.
The Red
Devils are now 4-3 overall and 2-0 in the SLIAC. They currently
hold a three-game win streak, and in their win versus Greenville
they shot a season-best 55.2 percent, grabbed a season-best 49
rebounds and matched their season-high with 10 three-point shots
made. |

two games played. He shot 16-of-31 (.516) from the field and
8-of-11 (.727) from the free throw line, while also recording
six assists, three blocks and two steals.
Zasada
scored a season-high 26 points in the Red Devils' 86-71 victory
at MacMurray College to open SLIAC play. He added 17 points and
14 rebounds in a 71-57 non-conference win versus Millikin
University.
Eureka
improves to 3-3 overall with the two wins and now stands at 1-0
in SLIAC play. |

Vislay, a 6-4 forward, was named the Most
Valuable Player at the Snyder Classic hosted by Nebraska Wesleyan
University this past weekend. The Blue Jays won two games at the
Classic, defeating Crown College 86-57 and host Nebraska Wesleyan 69-57.
Vislay scored 15 points on 6-of-8 shooting
from the field versus Crown. He was also a perfect 2-of-2 from the
charity stripe. Against Nebraska Wesleyan, Vislay tallied 21 points and
shot 7-of-9 from the field, 4-of-5 from three-point range and 3-of-5
from the free throw line.

has been named the SLIAC Men's Basketball Player of the Week for the
week of November 15-22.
Bell, a 6-2 guard, averaged 29.0 points,
5.5 rebounds and 3.0 assists in two games played last week. He also shot
22-of-41 (.537) from the field, 4-of-10 (.400) from three-point range
and 10-of-10 (1.000) from the charity stripe as the Red Devils split
their first two games of the season. Bell scored a career-high 44 points
in a 91-90 season-opening win at Rockford College. He sank a key
three-point shot in the final minute of the game to secure the victory.
Bell added 14 points in a 93-64 loss to NCAA Division I opponent Eastern
Illinois University.
