MARYVILLE, WEBSTER PLACE EIGHT ON ALL-MIDWEST REGION TEAM


ST. LOUIS - Maryville University's Katie Brockmeyer and Webster University's Kelsey Washam were both named to the Louisville Slugger/NFCA All-Midwest Region First Team. Maryville's Kristen Bray, Alana Weissmueller and Webster's Dana Vahey all earned Second Team honors, while the Saints' Evelyn Drummond, Molly Duffy and the Gorloks' Maria Hibbard were named Third Team.

Washam, a junior shortstop from Lincoln Ill., led Webster and the St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SLIAC) in almost every offensive category this past season while rewriting the offensive record books at Webster. She finished the season batting a league high .455 with school records in home runs (15), doubles (16) and RBIs (53). Washam was also a First Team All-SLIAC selection and earned SLIAC Player of the Year honors.

Brockmeyer, a senior, first baseman from St. Louis, Mo. (Cor Jesu Academy), earned First Team honors for the second consecutive year. She was a First Team All-SLIAC selection this season and is third on the Saints squad with a .347 batting average. She has 41 hits in 118 at-bats, with a team-high 32 RBI, 20 runs scored, seven doubles and three home runs. Brockmeyer also has a team-high 317 putouts and a .994 fielding percentage at first base.

Vahey, a junior catcher from Florissant, Mo. (Hazelwood West), was named an at-large selection on the Second Team. She ended the season leading the Gorloks in runs scored with 41 and stolen bases 26 and was second on the team with nine home runs, seven doubles and 24 RBIs. Vahey was also a First Team All-SLIAC selection at catcher.

Weissmueller, a sophomore from Kelso, Mo. (Notre Dame), and Bray, a freshman from Ballwin, Mo. (Marquette), were also both Second Team All-Midwest Region. Weissmueller returned to the Saints this season after transferring back to Maryville. She has started every game at third base, earned First Team All-SLIAC and is ranked second on the team with a .358 batting average. She is 43-for-120 at the plate with 27 runs scored, 12 RBI and a team-high 12 doubles.

Bray, the starting second baseman and a First Team All-SLIAC honoree, is leading the Saints with a .410 batting average and 50 hits. She has recorded 25 runs scored, 21 RBI, six doubles, three triples and is 13-of-16 in stolen base attempts.

Hibbard, a senior outfielder from Rhinelander, Wis. (Three Lakes), was an at-large selection on the Third Team. She finished the season second on the team with a .375 batting average and tied for second in hits with 45 and stolen bases with 18. Hibbard was also a Second Team All-SLIAC selection.

Duffy, a junior from Florissant, Mo. (Incarnate Word Academy), was named Third Team All-Midwest Region. She was a First Team All-SLIAC selection this season, while also being a staple in the outfield as the Saints starting center fielder. She is hitting .336 with 36 hits in 107 at-bats. She also has 20 RBI, 17 runs scored, eight doubles, two triples and two home runs.

Drummond, a sophomore from DeSoto, Mo. (DeSoto), earned Third Team All-Midwest Region for the second consecutive year. She is hitting .310 this season with 40 hits in 129 at-bats. She also has 39 runs scored, 14 RBI, four doubles, a team-high four triples and two home runs.
