SLIAC ANNOUNCES ATHLETES OF THE WEEK FOR DECEMBER 3-9

ST. LOUIS - The St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SLIAC) has announced the Athletes of the Week for the week of December 3-9.

MEN'S BASKETBALL
Westminster College's Andrew Buxton, a senior from Wildwood, Mo. (Lafayette), has been named the SLIAC Men's Basketball Player of the Week for the week of December 3-9.

Buxton, a guard, scored 46 points in two games last week, leading the Blue Jays to two victories versus Maryville University (Mo.) and Greenville College. In the two games he hit 17-of-31 from the field, 4-of-11 from behind the arc and was a perfect 8-of-8 from the charity stripe. He also tallied three assists, four steals and had just two turnovers in 63 minutes on the court.

Buxton scored 19 points and grabbed four rebounds in a 82-61 win versus Maryville. He then recorded 27 points and seven rebounds in a 73-59 win versus Greenville. The two wins marked the first time since the 1995-96 season that Westminster opened SLIAC play 2-0.

WOMEN'S BASKETBALL
Eureka College's Nicole Fisher, a senior from Canton, Ill., has been named the SLIAC Women's Basketball Player of the Week for the week of December 3-9.

Fisher, a 5-10 forward, has recorded four consecutive double-doubles and broke a 22-year old Eureka school record for rebounds in a game with 22 versus Blackburn College last week. She also had 26 points on 8-of-15 shooting from the field and 10-of-14 from the free throw line as the Red Devils lost 65-60 to the Beavers.

Fisher then tallied 19 points and 19 rebounds to lead Eureka to their first win of the season with a 68-43 home victory versus Principia College. She shot 5-of-12 from the field, 9-of-11 from the free throw line and added two steals in the win. Fisher also moves into the top five on Eureka's career rebounding list; she currently ranks fourth with 638 career rebounds.
