SLIAC ANNOUNCES ATHLETES OF THE WEEK FOR NOVEMBER 19-25
ST. LOUIS - The St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SLIAC)
has announced the Athletes of the Week for the week of November 19-25.
MEN'S BASKETBALL
Eureka College's Mark Darnall, a junior from Lake Mills, Wis., has been named the SLIAC Men's Basketball Player
of the Week for the week of November 19-25.
Darnall, a 6-3, guard, averaged 13.5 points, 2.0 rebounds and shot 43.5
percent from the field and 100 percent from the charity stripe in two
games last week. He had eight points, including shooting 2-of-3 (.667)
from three-point range in a 73-48 loss at North Park University. Then,
in his first start of the season, Darnall scored a game-high 19 points
as the Red Devils battled No. 18 Elmhurst College to a 64-51 loss.
Eureka led for the first 32 minutes versus
Elmhurst, and Darnall scored 17 of his 19 points in the second half,
which accounted for all but 10 of the Red Devils' second half scoring.
He also had two rebounds, two assists and shot a perfect 4-of-4 from the
charity stripe. WOMEN'S BASKETBALL
Greenville College's Meredith Banal, a junior from Vandalia,
Ill., has been named the SLIAC Women's
Basketball Player of the Week for the week of November 19-25.
Banal, a guard, shot 11-of-16 (.688) from the field, 4-of-5 (.800) from
behind the arc and 5-of-6 (.833) from the free throw line to lead the
Panthers with 31 points in their first win of the season, a 67-50
victory versus Knox College. Banal also added six steals and two
rebounds in the win. |
