SLIAC ANNOUNCES ATHLETES OF THE WEEK FOR WEEK OF OCTOBER 8-14


ST. LOUIS - The St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SLIAC) has announced the Athletes of the Week for the week of October 8-14.

MEN'S CROSS COUNTRY
Principia College's Peter Swank, a senior from St. Louis, Mo. (Principia Upper), has been named the SLIAC Men's Cross Country Runner of the Week for the week of October 8-14. This is Swank's third time this season to receive the honor.

Swank won the Illinois College Cross Country Invitational with a time of 26:09.93, placing first out of 66 runners competing. He also helped lead Principia to a third place finish out of seven teams competing.

WOMEN'S CROSS COUNTRY
Greenville College's Jamie O'Connor, a senior from Indianapolis, Ind. (Ben Davis), has been named the SLIAC Women's Cross Country Runner of the Week for the week of October 8-14.

O'Connor finished fourth out of 59 runners at the Illinois College Cross Country Invitational. She ran the 5K course in 20:13 to help Greenville to a second place finish out of five teams competing.

MEN'S SOCCER
Principia College's Ricky Seaman, a sophomore from Winter Park, Fla. (Lake Howell), has been named the SLIAC Men's Soccer Player of the Week for the week of October 8-14.

Seaman, a forward, helped lead the Panthers to their sixth consecutive victory last week in a 3-0 shutout versus Westminster College (Mo.). He had two goals, including the game-winner, as Principia remained undefeated in conference play at 6-0.

WOMEN'S SOCCER
Greenville College's Natalie Lappe, a senior from Greenville, Ill., has been named the SLIAC Women's Soccer Player of the Week for the week of October 8-14.

Lappe, a midfielder, had five goals and three assists in three games played last week, including game-winning goals versus both Eureka College and Fontbonne University. She recorded a hat trick with three goals and one assist in a 8-3 win versus Eureka. She then had one goal and one assist as the Panthers defeated Fontbonne 2-1. Lappe also added one goal and one assist in a 3-0 shutout versus non-conference opponent Bethany College (Kan.).

Lappe, who is among the conference leaders with 22 goals and seven assists this season, currently has a 14-game scoring streak, including at least one goal versus every SLIAC team the Panthers have faced thus far.

VOLLEYBALL
Eureka College's Chelsea Faith, a senior from Mt. Pulaski, Ill., has been named the SLIAC Volleyball Player of the Week for the week of October 8-14.

Faith, an outside hitter, recorded a career-high 18 kills as the Red Devils defeated Blackburn College 3-2 last week. She also recorded her fifth double-double of the season by adding 14 digs and finished with a match-high .306 hitting percentage.
