SLIAC ANNOUNCES ATHLETES OF THE WEEK FOR WEEK OF OCTOBER 1-7
ST. LOUIS - The St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SLIAC)
has announced the Athletes of the Week for the week of October 1-7. MEN'S CROSS COUNTRY
Maryville University's Tyler Yeargain, a freshman from
Cape Girardeau, Mo. (Cape Central), has
been named the SLIAC Men's Cross Country Runner of the Week for the week
of October 1-7. Yeargain posted a time of
30:09.37 on the 8K course at the Illinois/Missouri Border Wars hosted by
Southern Illinois University-Edwardsville. He placed 130th out of 242
runners competing and was Maryville's top runner. WOMEN'S
CROSS COUNTRY
Maryville University's Erin McEnaney, a junior from
St. Paul, Mo. (St. Dominic), has
been named the SLIAC Women's Cross Country Runner of the Week for the
week of October 1-7. McEnaney recorded a
season-best time of 22:59 at the Illinois/Missouri Border Wars hosted by
Southern Illinois University-Edwardsville. She place 140th out of 213
total runners on the 5K course.
MEN'S SOCCER
Westminster College's Matt Mercer, a senior from St. Louis,
Mo. (Whitfield), has been named the SLIAC Men's Soccer Player
of the Week for the week of October 1-7.
Mercer, a forward, recorded four goals, three
assists and one game-winning goal in three games played last week. He
had two goals and one assist in a 4-0 shutout versus MacMurray College.
Mercer then added two goals, including the game-winner, and two assists
in a 4-3 Blue Jay victory versus Millikin University.
Mercer, with his four goals last week, tied the
Westminster record for most goals in a season at 16.
WOMEN'S SOCCER
Maryville University's Amy Klein, a sophomore from
Wisconsin Rapids, Wis. (Assumption), has been named the SLIAC Women's
Soccer Player of the Week for the week of October 1-7.
Klein scored the game-winning goal in
Maryville's 2-1 conference victory versus Webster University. She then
added two goals, including the game-winner, in a 3-2 Saints victory on
the road at Greenville College.
Klein's two goals versus Greenville tied her
individual game high. She also has recorded a personal season-best seven
goals this season.
VOLLEYBALL
Maryville University's Maggie Hoette, a junior from
St. Charles, Mo. (Duchesne), has been named the SLIAC
Volleyball Player of the Week for the week of October 1-7.
Hoette, a middle blocker, led the Saints in kills in all three matches
she played last week. She finished the week with 41 kills, a .407
hitting percentage, 14 digs, six blocks and two service aces.
Hoette had 11 kills, a .500 hitting percentage
and five digs in a 3-0 Maryville victory versus Westminster College
(Mo.). She then added 20 kills, a .421 hitting percentage, four digs and
two block assists as the Saints picked up an important conference win on
the road at Eureka College. Hoette ended the week with 10 kills, a .304
hitting percentage, five digs and three blocks as Maryville defeated
Lincoln Christian College 3-0. |
