SLIAC ANNOUNCES ATHLETES OF THE WEEK FOR WEEK OF SEPTEMBER 10-16


ST. LOUIS - The St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SLIAC) has announced the Athletes of the Week for the week of September 10-16.

MEN'S CROSS COUNTRY
Fontbonne University's Everett Jackson, a freshman from University City, Mo., has been named the SLIAC Men's Cross Country Runner of the Week for the week of September 10-16.

Everett was the top SLIAC runner at the Maryville Cross Country Classic, where he posted a time of 17:42 on the 5K course. Everett finished 15th overall and led the Griffins to a second place finish.

WOMEN'S CROSS COUNTRY
Fontbonne University's Rachel Hanson, a freshman from Clarksville, Tenn. (Rossview), has been named the SLIAC Women's Cross Country Runner of the Week for the week of September 10-16.

Hanson placed eighth overall out of 84 runners competing at the Maryville Cross Country Classic. She posted a time of 21:04 on the 5K course and led her team to a fourth place finish.

MEN'S SOCCER
Maryville University's Cory Scott, a sophomore from Hannibal, Mo., has been named the SLIAC Men's Soccer Player of the Week for the week of September 10-16.

Scott, a midfielder, scored two goals, both game-winners, this pas week as he helped the Saints start 2-0 in conference play. He scored the game-winning goal in Maryville's SLIAC opening win on the road at Westminster College (Mo.). Scott then score the Saints opening goal less than three minutes into the game versus Lincoln Christian College.

Scott also added one assist for the week.

WOMEN'S SOCCER
Webster University's Megan Niederschulte, a freshman from St. Louis, Mo. (Pattonville), has been named the SLIAC Women's Soccer Player of the Week for the week of September 10-16.

Niederschulte, a forward, scored the first two goal, including the game-winner, as the Gorloks defeated Fontbonne University 3-1. She then had a hat trick and assisted on two goals in a 12-0 Webster victory versus MacMurray College. Finally, Niederschulte added one goal in the Gorloks' 3-0 victory versus Nebraska Wesleyan University.

In three games played Niederschulte finished with six goals, two assists and 14 points.

VOLLEYBALL
Greenville College's Laura Alo, a senior from Manhattan, Ill. (Peotone), has been named the SLIAC Volleyball Player of the Week for the week of September 10-16.

Alo had 57 kills, a .219 hitting percentage, seven service aces, 65 digs and 10 total blocks as the Panthers went 4-0 last week. She recorded 20 kills and only two errors versus Fontbonne University, while also serving six straight points in the fifth and deciding game to give her squad the win. She also had 26 digs and four blocks versus the Griffins.
