SLIAC ANNOUNCES ATHLETES OF THE WEEK FOR APRIL 21-27

ST. LOUIS – The St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SLIAC) has announced the Athletes of the Week for the week of April 21-27.

BASEBALL-HITTER
Greenville College's Stefan Neece, a junior from Greenville, Ill., has been named the SLIAC Baseball Hitter of the Week for the week of April 21-27.

Neece, the Panthers' first baseman, hit .625 in seven games played last week, while leading Greenville to a 6-1 record for the week. He went 10-for-16 at the plate with 12 runs scored, 10 RBI, 3 home runs, one double, one triple, reached base on balls a total of nine walks and struck out only once.

Neece recorded a hit in every game but one. He had two home runs and four RBI in Greenville's 10-0 victory at MacMurray. He then had three hits, one home run, one RBI and four runs scored in a 12-4 win versus Fontbonne.

BASEBALL-PITCHER
Westminster College's Mike Oliveri, a sophomore from Clayton, Mo., has been named the SLIAC Baseball Pitcher of the Week for the week of April 21-27.

Oliveri appeared in relief in three game, throwing 5.1 scoreless innings. He gave up only four hits, one walk and struck out four batters, while earning his sixth save in a 4-1 victory at Blackburn.

SOFTBALL-HITTER
Maryville University's Alana Weissmueller, a sophomore from Kelso, Mo. (Notre Dame), has been named the SLIAC Softball Hitter of the Week for the week of April 21-27.

Weissmueller, the Saints' third baseman, hit .480 in seven games played last week. She went 12-for-25 at the plate with four runs scored, four doubles and three runs batted-in. Weissmueller also helped Maryville to a 7-0 record for the week, including a sweep versus Webster that helped the Saints to a share of the 2008 SLIAC Regular Season Championship.

Weissmueller went 2-for-4 with one double in the Saints game two victory versus the Gorloks that clinched the #1 seed in the SLIAC Tournament. She then hit 3-for-4 with one double and one run scored in a 2-1 upset versus nationally ranked #14 Washington University-St. Louis.

SOFTBALL-PITCHER
Maryville University's Erin Clark, a senior from Raymore, Mo. (Ray-Pec), and Jaye O'Dell, a sophomore from O'Fallon, Mo. (Ft. Zumwalt West), have been named the SLIAC Softball Co-Pitchers of the Week for the week of April 21-27. It marks the third time this season that O'Dell has received the honor.

Clark made five appearances, had four starts, four complete games and two shutouts, while going 4-0 with one save. She posted a 1.12 ERA in 25.0 innings on the mound and had 14 strikeouts.

Clark threw a complete game in Maryville's 4-3, come-from-behind victory versus Webster. She allowed four hits, one walk and struck out seven batters in the win. She then took the mound in relief to record her first save of the season in the Saints 4-1 victory versus the Gorloks that helped them to a share of the 2008 SLIAC Regular Season Championship. She then recorded four strikeouts, three walks and gave up five hits in a 2-1 complete game victory versus nationally ranked #14 Washington University-St. Louis.

O'Dell went 3-0 for the week, with three appearances, three starts, two complete games and one shutout. She posted a 0.70 ERA in 20.0 innings on the mound, while also recording 27 strikeouts.

O'Dell had a career-high 13 strikeouts in Maryville 6-0 victory versus MacMurray, in which she allowed only one hit and one walk. She then recorded eight strikeouts, allowed four hits and one walk as Maryville completed a sweep at Fontbonne. O'Dell finished the week with 6.0 innings pitched and six batters struck out in Maryville's 4-1 victory versus Webster.
