ANNOUNCES ATHLETES OF THE WEEK FOR APRIL 7-13
ST.
LOUIS – The St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SLIAC) has
announced the Athletes of the Week for the week of April 7-13.
BASEBALL-HITTER
Webster
University's
Alex Raetzloff, a junior from Florissant, Mo. (Hazelwood Central),
has been named the SLIAC Baseball Hitter of the Week for the week of
April 7-13.
Raetzloff, a second baseman, hit .429 in four games played last week. He
was 6-for-14 at the plate with 10 RBI, five runs scored, two doubles,
one triple, three home runs and four walks. Raetzloff hit two home runs
and had four RBI in the Gorloks 23-4 victory versus Greenville College.
He had one home run and three RBI in Webster's 10-7 victory versus
Greenville, and then he had two doubles, a triple and two RBI in a 13-10
defeat of Blackburn College to end the week.
BASEBALL-PITCHER
Greenville College's
Justin Litteken, a sophomore from Trenton, Ill. (Wesclin),
has been named the SLIAC Baseball Pitcher of the Week for the week of
April 7-13.
Litteken
went 1-0 last week, as he recorded a complete shutout in a 2-0 victory
versus Webster University. He had a perfect game going through 6.1
innings and finished with seven strikeouts and only two hits allowed.
SOFTBALL-HITTER

University's
Kelsey Washam, a junior from Lincoln, Ill., has been named the SLIAC Softball Hitter of the
Week for the week of April 7-13. It marks the second time this season
that Washam has received the honor.
Washam,
a shortstop, hit .833 in two games played last week. She was 5-for-6 at
the plate with five RBI, three runs scored, two doubles and two home
runs as Webster swept MacMurray College 16-0 and 5-0. Washam went
2-for-3 in game one with a double, home run, two RBI and two runs
scored. In game two, she was a perfect 3-for-3 with a single, double,
home run and three RBI.
SOFTBALL-PITCHER
Greenville College's
Amanda Davison, a freshman from Analy, Calif., has been named the SLIAC Softball Pitcher of the Week for the
week of April 7-13.
Davison
was 0-2 for the week, but in 13.0 innings pitched she walked only one
batter, struck out four and recorded a 0.00 ERA. She allowed the
opposition to hit only .196 at the plate in the two games.
MEN’S
TENNIS
Maryville University's
Matt Schlueter, a senior from Jefferson City, Mo.
(Helias), has been named the SLIAC Men’s Tennis Player of the Week
for the week of April 7-13. It marks the second time this season that
Schlueter has received the honor.
Schlueter went 1-0 at both #1 Singles and #1 Doubles to help lead the
Saints to a 7-2 victory versus Principia College. He posted a 6-3, 6-1
victory in singles play versus Graham Wightman, who defeated Schlueter
in the second round of the conference tournament last season. Schlueter
and teammate Tyler Tate also posted an 8-5 victory at #1 Doubles to help
the Saints remain undefeated in SLIAC play.
GOLF
Maryville University’s Nick Profancik, a junior from Centralia,
Ill., has been named the SLIAC Golfer of the Week for the week of April
7-13. It marks the fourth consecutive week that Profancik has
earned the honor.
Profancik shot rounds of 72-67 for a total of 139 that helped him claim
the title at the Wartburg Spring Invitational. He placed 1st out of 95
golfers competing, and his five-under par 67 on day two was the low
round for the tournament. Profancik led the Saints to a second place
finish in the 16 team tournament, as they lost by three strokes to
nationally ranked No. 4 Gustavus Adolphus College.
