SLIAC ANNOUNCES ATHLETES OF THE WEEK FOR FEBRUARY 4-10

ST. LOUIS – The St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SLIAC) has announced the Athletes of the Week for the week of February 4-10.

MEN'S BASKETBALL
Principia College's Kyle Johnson, a senior from St. Louis, Mo. (Parkway West), has been named the SLIAC Men's Basketball Player of the Week for the week of February 4-10.

Johnson, a 6-3 forward, averaged 28 points, 11.5 rebounds and five assists in three games played last week. He also shot 58.0 percent (35-of-60) from the floor, as the Panthers went 2-1 for the week.

Johnson recorded 20 points, six rebounds, five assists and three steals in an 81-75 non-conference loss to Robert Morris College-Springfield. He then had 26 points, nine rebounds, seven assists and one steal to help Principia to a 92-81 victory versus MacMurray College in SLIAC action. Johnson's best outing of the week, however, was a 37 point and 20 rebound performance that helped the Panthers to a 106-101 double overtime victory versus Lincoln Christian College.

WOMEN’S BASKETBALL
Principia College's Christina Speer, a junior from Ballwin, Mo. (Principia Upper), has been named the SLIAC Women’s Basketball Player of the Week for the week of February 4-10.

Speer, a 6-2 center, averaged 23.5 points, 15.5 rebounds and four steals in two games last week. She had 29 points, 17 rebounds, three steals and three assists, while also shooting a perfect 8-of-8 from the charity stripe to help lead Principia to a 74-52 victory versus MacMurray College. Speer added 18 points and 14 rebounds in a 72-39 victory versus Lincoln Christian College, marking the fourth consecutive game that she has recorded a double-double. She also had five steals and three assists versus the Angels.
