SLIAC ANNOUNCES ATHLETES OF THE WEEK FOR JANUARY 28 - FEBRUARY 3

ST. LOUIS – The St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SLIAC) has announced the Athletes of the Week for the week of January 28 - February 3.

MEN'S BASKETBALL
Eureka College's Michael Zasada, a sophomore from McHenry, Ill., has been named the SLIAC Men's Basketball Player of the Week for the week of January 28-February 3.

Zasada, a 6-5 forward, averaged a double-double last week with 14.5 points and 10.5 rebounds in two games played. He shot 12-of-22 (.545) from the field, 2-of-6 (.333) from behind the arc and 3-of-5 (.600) from the free throw line, while also recording 10 steals, six assists and two blocks.

Zasada had nine points, nine rebounds, three assists and three steals in a 93-76 loss at Lincoln Christian College. He then posted a career-high 20 points and added 12 rebounds to lead the Red Devils to a 71-70 overtime victory versus Maryville University. He also added seven steals, three assists and two blocks, while shooting 8-of-11 (.727) from the field, 2-of-3 (.667) from three-point range and 2-of-2 (1.000) from the charity stripe. His 20 points and 12 rebounds marked his fourth double-double of the season and the eighth straight game that he has led his squad in rebounding.

WOMEN’S BASKETBALL
Webster University's Katy Meyer, a freshman from St. Louis, Mo. (Parkway Central), has been named the SLIAC Women’s Basketball Player of the Week for the week of January 28-February 3.

Meyer, a 5-10 forward, averaged 16.5 points, 9.0 rebounds and recorded five steals and three assists in two games played last week. She scored 17 points on 6-of-13 (.462) shooting and grabbed seven rebounds in a 51-47 Gorlok loss on the road at Westminster College. Meyer, after being held scoreless in the first half, went on to score 16 second half points to lead Webster to a 51-47 victory versus Principia College. She sank 7-of-8 (.875) free throws and had 11 rebounds in the win.
