SLIAC FALL SPORT STUDENT-ATHLETES &
TEAMS RANKED IN FINAL NCAA STATISTICS
ST. LOUIS – The NCAA recently
released the final national statistical report for men and women’s
soccer and volleyball. A number of St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletics
Conference student-athletes and teams were ranked among the national
leaders, including 13 individuals or teams in the top-10.
Principia College forward Jennai
Taylor (Claremont, Calif./Flintridge Prep) led the nation in point
per game average (3.2). Taylor also finished fifth in assists per game
(0.93) and ninth in goals per game (1.133). Greenville College
midfielder Natalie Lappe (Greenville, Ill./Greenville) finished
second to Taylor in points per game (3.18) and was fourth in goals per
game (1.318). Lappe actually led the nation in points (70), but the
NCAA national statistics are based on per game averages. Taylor and
Lappe were the SLIAC co-Players of the Year.
Eureka College goalkeeper Garin
Pisano (Metamora, Ill./Metamora) averaged 13.94 saves per game,
second-best in the nation. Westminster College forward Matt Mercer
(St. Louis, Mo./Whitfield) finished the year third in both points per
game (3.06) and goals per game (1.28).
Principia outside hitter and two-time
SLIAC Player of the Year Christina Speer (Ballwin, Mo./Principia
Upper) was the lone Conference volleyball player ranked in the top-10.
She finished sixth in the nation with a 5.13 kill per game average.
