ST. LOUIS - The Fontbonne University athletic department is pleased to announce it has hired John Rodgers as its new head women’s volleyball coach.

ST. LOUIS - The St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SLIAC) has announced the Athletes of the Week for the week of March 8-14.

34 STUDENT-ATHLETES NAMED TO WINTER ALL-ACADEMIC TEAM
ST. LOUIS - Thirty-four student-athletes have been named to the St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SLIAC) All-Academic Team. The recipients were varsity members of their school's men's or women's basketball squad for the Winter 2009-10 season.

FONTBONNE TOPS PRE-SEASON COACHES POLL

ST. LOUIS - Fontbonne University has been picked as the pre-season favorite in the 2010 SLIAC Softball Coaches' Pre-Season Poll. The Griffins, who posted a record of 21-18 overall, 11-3 in conference play and shared a three-way tie of the regular season SLIAC title last season, received five first place votes.

WEBSTER BASEBALL MAY FOUR-PEAT IN 2010

ST. LOUIS - Defending St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SLIAC) regular season champion Webster University has been picked as the pre-season favorite in the 2010 SLIAC Baseball Coaches' Pre-Season Poll. The Gorloks, who posted a perfect record of 24-0 in conference play and 28-15 overall last season, received seven first place votes.

ST. LOUIS - Following the devastating earthquake that hit Haiti in mid-January, several teams from the St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SLIAC) have been doing their part to provide help.

SLIAC BASKETBALL TEAMS IN THE FIGHT AGAINST CANCER
ST. LOUIS - Men's and women's basketball teams of the St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SLIAC) took advantage of national programs sponsored by the WBCA (Women's Basketball Coaches Association) and the NABC (National Association of Basketball Coaches) to do their part to raise not only funds but also awareness in the fight against cancer this season.

WESTMINSTER PUSHES #1 WASHINGTON U. TO THE BRINK IN LOSS
ST. LOUIS - In Friday’s NCAA Division III National Tournament first round basketball game in St. Louis, the Westminster College men cut #1 Washington University’s lead to three points at 72-69. But, that was as close as Blue Jays could come in the final two minutes in falling 79-71 to the two-time defending national champions.

GRIFFINS DRAW THOMAS MORE IN FIRST ROUND OF NCAA TOURNEY
ST. LOUIS - The Fontbonne University women’s basketball team (18-9) has drawn Thomas More College (25-3) in the first round of the NCAA Div. III National Basketball Tournament.  The Griffins will play Friday at Thomas More College in Crestview Hills, Kentucky at a time to be determined.

WESTMINSTER OPENS NCAA PLAY AT 8:00PM FRIDAY IN ST. LOUIS
FULTON, Mo. - The Westminster College men’s basketball team will travel to St. Louis and play two-time defending national champion Washington University in first round action of the 2010 NCAA Division III National Tournament at 8:00 p.m. Friday, March 5, in the WU Field House in St. Louis.

SLIAC ANNOUNCES 2009-10 WOMEN'S BASKETBALL AWARD WINNERS

ST. LOUIS – The St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SLIAC) has announced the women’s basketball All-Conference Teams and award winners for the 2009-10 season. Highlighting the award winners were Fontbonne University's Kaitlin Bramel and Webster University's Maggie Zehner.
