BLACKBURN NAMES TOM BUCKLEY AS HEAD MEN'S GOLF COACH

CARLINVILLE, Ill. - Blackburn College has named Tom Buckley to the position of head men’s golf coach at the school.

Buckley takes over for Rusty Ingram, who recently resigned to accept a position as Director of Marketing and Public Relations at Alton Memorial Hospital.  Ingram, who served in the same capacity at Blackburn, spent six years as head golf coach at Blackburn and built the program into a consistent force in the St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference.

A 1996 Blackburn graduate, Buckley also serves as Campus Services Supervisor at Blackburn.  A Petersburg native, Buckley was a four-year letterwinner for the Blackburn men’s basketball team and is a well-liked and respected member of the Blackburn community.

Buckley is married to the former Sara Frankford, a Blackburn Athletics Hall of Fame member who is the fifth all-time leading scorer in Blackburn women’s basketball history.  The couple resides in Bethalto with their two children, Elizabeth, 7, and Sam, 2.

The Blackburn golf program has finished no lower than third in the SLIAC in each of the last four seasons and has produced a total of 19 all-conference performers.  The school captured a Prairie College Conference title in 1991 and a SLIAC title in 1998.
