Oyler placed 24th out of 331 total runners at the Greater Louisville Cross Country Classic. He ran the 8K course in 26:39.30 to lead the Panthers to a 19th place finish out of 33 teams in the Blue Division. Oyler was also the top SLIAC competitor at the event, out of three teams competing.

Greenville College's Shanna Ambuehl, a junior from Kinmundy, Ill. (South Central), has been named the SLIAC Women's Cross Country Runner of the Week for the week of September 28 - October 4.

Ambuehl, who was competing in only her second career race, finished the 5K course at the Greater Louisville Cross Country Classic with a time of 19:34.98 to place 21st out of 298 total runners. She also led Greenville to a fourth place finish overall in the Blue Division, which had 35 teams competing.

MEN'S SOCCER - OFFENSE
Webster University's Mike Riti, a senior from Webster Groves, Mo., has been named the SLIAC Men's Soccer Offensive Player of the Week for the week of September 28 - October 4.

Riti, a 6-1 forward, compiled three goals, including two game-winning goals, for a total of six points in two games played last week. The three goals were his first of the season, as he helped lead the Gorloks to a 2-0 record for the week. Riti scored the winning goal in a 2-1 victory on the road at Blackburn College. Then, in a hard-fought game at rival Fontbonne University, Riti scored in the 59th minute to put his team ahead. He added another goal to secure the victory in the 70th minute on a header off a long throw, as Webster defeated the Griffins 2-0.

After starting the season at 0-5-1, the Gorloks have won their last three games and currently stand at 3-0 in conference play.

MEN'S SOCCER - DEFENSE
Principia College's Samuel Thomas, a sophomore from Chesterfield, Mo. (The Principia School), has been named the SLIAC Men's Soccer Defensive Player of the Week for the week of September 28 - October 4.

Thomas, a 6-0 goalkeeper, led Principia to three shutouts last week as they extended their win streak to nine consecutive games. He had one save as the Panthers defeated SLIAC pre-season favorite Fontbonne University, 3-0. He then tallied eight saves in a 4-0 win against Lindenwood-Belleville. Principia ended the week with a 1-0 victory on the road at Eureka, but no statistics were available at the time of this release.

WOMEN'S SOCCER - OFFENSE
Webster University's Christy Capkovic, a junior from St. Louis, Mo. (Mehlville), has been named the SLIAC Women's Soccer Offensive Player of the Week for the week of September 28 - October 4. It marks the second time this season that she has received the honor.

Capkovic, a 5-7 forward, had nine goals, two of which were game-winners, and added one assist for a total of 19 points in two games played last week. She scored three goals, including the game-winning goal, and tallied one assist in a 6-0 victory versus Blackburn College. Capkovic then broke the SLIAC single game record for goals in a game, as she finished with six in the Gorloks' 8-3 win on the road at Fontbonne University. Her single game point total of 12 versus the Griffins also set a new school record at Webster and tied the SLIAC record for points in a single game.

WOMEN'S SOCCER - DEFENSE
Principia College's  Julianna Mangelsdorf, a freshman from Palmer, Alaska, has been named the SLIAC Women's Soccer Defensive Player of the Week for the week of September 28 - October 4.

Mangelsdorf, a 5-5 center midfielder, helped lead Principia to two shutouts last week. The Panthers defeated Fontbonne University, 3-0, before winning 6-0 over Eureka College. The Panthers, who have been dealing with some injuries on defense, had to shift players around in their game against Eureka.

"Julianna really stepped up and played a significant role in the center midfield position," said head coach Lee Ellis. "She plays in front of our backline, and we rely on her to stop the forward penetration from the opposing center midfield. She made hard tackles, won 50-50 balls and did a great job in passing to our team after winning the ball."

VOLLEYBALL
Eureka College's Laura Willman, a senior from Metamora, Ill., has been named the SLIAC Volleyball Player of the Week for the week of September 28 - October 4.

Willman, a 5-6 setter, tallied 109 set assists, 40 digs, 14 service aces and six kills in four matches played last week. She set a new career-high for the second time in eight days with 49 set assists in Eureka's five-set loss to Fontbonne University. Willman recorded six service aces in the Red Devils 3-0 sweep over MacMurray College, and she finished the week with 119 career service aces, moving her into 10th on Eureka's all-time list.
