SLIAC ANNOUNCES BASKETBALL PLAYERS OF
THE WEEK FOR WEEK OF JANUARY 11-17
ST. LOUIS - The St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SLIAC)
has announced the basketball players of the week for the week of
January 11-17.
MEN'S BASKETBALL
Spalding University's DeWhon McAfee, a sophomore from
Louisville, Ky.
(Butler),
has been named the SLIAC Men's Basketball Player of the Week for the
week of January 11-17.
McAfee, a 6-0 guard, averaged 22 points
and 9.0 rebounds in two games played last week. He also recorded nine
assists, three steals, one block and shot 17-of-33 (.515) from the field
and 9-of-10 (.900) from the free throw line.
McAfee had a
double-double with 25 points and 10 rebounds in a 77-67 win versus
Greenville College. He then added 19 points and eight rebounds in the
Golden Eagles 73-57 victory versus Blackburn College.
WOMEN'S BASKETBALL
Principia College's Lindsay
Sydness, a sophomore from
Wellesley, Mass., has been named the SLIAC Women's Basketball Player
of the Week for the week of January 11-17.
Sydness, a 6-1
forward, averaged a double-double with 18.5 points and 16.5 rebounds in
two games played last week. She had 21 points and 11 rebounds, along
with two blocks in the Panthers 59-53 loss to Westminster College. She
added 16 points and 22 rebounds in their loss on the road at Fontbonne
University. |
