FONTBONNE HIRES JOHN RODGERS TO HEAD
VOLLEYBALL PROGRAM
ST. LOUIS - The Fontbonne
University athletic department is pleased to announce it has hired
John Rodgers as its new head women’s volleyball coach.
Coach Rodgers comes
to Fontbonne with an extensive background in collegiate coaching. He has
served as the head volleyball coach at NCAA Division I University of
North Carolina at Wilmington as well as the assistant volleyball coach
at University of Alabama and Southwest Missouri State University.
In addition to his
collegiate coaching experience, Coach Rodgers is very active in club
volleyball coaching for
Team St. Louis/ High Performance.
Rodgers has also been involved in international coaching, directing one
of two United States teams competing in the Nike Sibillini Invitational
Tournament in 1999. He guided his group of collegiate players to a
fifth-place finish at the international competition in Italy.
Rodgers, who holds
USAV level I & II certifications, has been very active in amateur
volleyball. He was the assistant facility coordinator for the USVBA
Nationals in 1992 and was a zone coordinator for the U.S. Olympic
Festival in St. Louis in 1994. He was also a tournament coordinator at
the AAU Nationals in 1995 and served as a commissioner for the
Show-Me-State Games from 1993-95.

welcome Coach Rodgers to the Fontbonne Community,” said Maria Eftink,
Associate AD/SWA. “His experience and knowledge of the game in addition
to his connections within volleyball community both locally and outside
the St. Louis area leave us very excited about the future of Fontbonne
Volleyball.”
Coach Rodgers earned
his bachelor’s degree from Southwest Missouri State University and his
master’s from Wichita State University. He currently works for St. Louis
Volleyball Inc.
Fontbonne is an NCAA
Division III institution located in St. Louis, Missouri. Fontbonne
competes in the St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SLIAC). |
