EUREKA SOFTBALL PAYS VISIT TO CHILDREN'S
HOSPITAL
PEORIA,
Ill. – The Eureka College softball team paid a visit to the Children’s
Hospital of Illinois back in December, delivering gifts and some early
Christmas cheer to the patients at OSF Saint Francis Medical Center in
Peoria.
First-year softball head coach Stacey Sparks and the softball
players delivered gifts to children of all ages during their 90-minute
visit. The Red Devils also signed Eureka softball jerseys and softballs
and sang Christmas carols as they visited several children.
"Having the
opportunity to visit with the children and their families was such a
heartwarming experience,” Sparks said. “With everything that they are
going through, just seeing a smile on their face for a brief minute was
very special to all of us."
“This was a great
experience,” senior outfielder Mary Garbett (Georgetown,
Ohio/Western Brown H.S.) said. “The light that shined when those
children smiled was brighter than any Christmas light! It was such a
rewarding experience.”
