WEBSTER TO TRAVEL TO IOWA FOR NCAA DIII SOFTBALL REGIONAL

ST. LOUIS - The quest for the NCAA Division III Softball Championship will begin in Indianola, Iowa as Webster will head to Simpson College for the Division III Regionals.

The Gorloks (23-16) earned a berth into the double-elimination tournament by winning the St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SLIAC) tournament this past week. The tournament starts 10 a.m. Thursday. WU will be making its seventh trip all-time to the tournament, and second in three seasons. The Gorloks are 6-12 in the tournament.

Webster will take on the top-seeded St. Thomas (MN) University. The Tommies (39-4) earned the automatic berth by winning the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference tournament. It will be their 13th trip in the last 14 years for St. Thomas, who has won the MIAC for six consecutive season. The winner of the game will take either UW-LaCrosse or Wartburg in the second game. UW-LaCrosse earned the automatic bid by winning the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference, while Wartburg earned an at-large bid.

Central (Iowa Conference regular season champion), Gustavus Adolphus (MIAC runner up), Luther (Iowa Conference runner up) and Washington University (UAA Champion) are also in the Simpson Regional field.

The winner of the 8-team Simpson Regional, along with the seven other regional winners, will advance to the Division III Softball Championship on May 15-19 at Montclair State University in Montclair, NJ.
