WEBSTER UNIVERSITY NAMES DEVASTO FIRST FULL-TIME SID


ST. LOUIS - Niel DeVasto has been named Sports Information Director at Webster University. He will be the first full-time dedicated SID in the program's 25-year history. DeVasto played a key role in creating athletics at Webster, first submitting the original proposal for the program in 1984 and then serving as AD from 1984-88. During his term as AD, DeVasto oversaw the admission of the Gorloks into the NCAA as a Division III member.

DeVasto has continually served the University in their Undergraduate Admissions Office for the past 29 years, the last 13 as Director.  His previous experience in marketing, publications, and copywriting will serve him in this position. DeVasto also served four years as United Way Co-Chairman for the University and 10 years on the executive board of the Missouri Association for College Admission Counseling (MOACAC), including four as treasurer.

He and his wife Ellen have three children, Dominic, a sophomore midfielder for the Webster University soccer team, Daniel, a junior tennis player at Vianney High School, and Erin, a three-sport sophomore at Bishop DuBourg High School.
