MARYVILLE MEN'S GOLF IN 21ST AT NCAA CHAMPIONSHIPS AFTER DAY THREE

PORT ST. LUCIE, Fla.-The Maryville University men's golf team is in 21st place after round three of the 2009 NCAA Division III Men's Golf National Championships. The Saints have a total team score of 930 (312-299-319). This 54-hole score ranks fourth-best in program history.

Host-Methodist University continues to lead all teams with its total score of 871 (279-303-289). Mitchell Fedorka of the University of LaVerne holds a two-stroke lead and maintains his first place standing.

 

Senior Nick Profancik (Centralia, Ill.) continues to lead the team and is tied for 19th among all competitors (75-71-76=222).

 

Classmate Tony Skurat (St. Charles, Mo.) was the next Maryville finisher as he shot a 79 on the day and is tied for 71st place.

 

Sophomore Sam Carlson (Lake St. Louis, Mo.) recorded an 80 in the third round and is tied for 93rd place.

 

Junior Tyler Schell (Washington, Mo.) and junior Cory Scott (Hannibal, Mo.) rounded out the Saints competitors with their scores of 85 and 84, respectively.

 

The field was cut to the top 23 teams and five individuals not on qualifying teams after yesterday's round.

 

The fourth and final round begins at 7 a.m. Saturday on the Dye Course. Maryville is in groups 11-15 and will tee off starting at 7:30 a.m.
