FONTBONNE FACES CARTHAGE IN NCAA BASEBALL REGIONAL

ST. LOUIS - The Fontbonne University baseball team will open play in the NCAA Tournament on Wednesday, May 13, at Swanson Stadium in Moline, Illinois against Carthage College at 12:00 p.m.

Fontbonne (25-17) is making its first appearance in the NCAA Tournament since 2003. The Griffins qualified for the NCAA Tournament this year by winning the St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SLIAC) Post-Season Tournament this past weekend in Highland, Illinois. Fontbonne, which was the #4 seed, upset #1 seed Webster University and beat #2 seed Maryville University twice. This was the first time since 1998 Fontbonne has won the SLIAC Tournament. Dating back to the regular season, Fontbonne has now won six of their last seven games. This year's team has compiled the fourth most wins in program history.
